Winner of Best cafe Award announced

Cafe Magazine‘s Best Cafe Award has been won by Groove Kitchen in the heart of Napier.

Cafe Magazine says “the food is superb and the decor is predominately white and minimalist”

There are also turntable decks for DJs to do their thing (including owner Ben Simcox), and cool images projected on a wall via  a video camera on the coffee machine.

Richmond Road Cafe in Grey Lynn, Auckland took out second place.

Me and my partner went to Groove Kitchen in the July school holidays. We came up from Wellington and our first stop was Groove Kitchen, I really wish it wasn’t. The food was some of the worst I have had in Nz and around the world. My Benn (poached eggs) were past boiled and the homemade hashbrown was cold lumpy and bland plus I has a side of eggshell YUMI!
My partner had a bacon bap with a serving of some form of animal hair. What a horrid meal BUT the coffee was good. Sorry folks dont try this joint, the one up the road is heaps better.

I’m truly sorry you had such a disappointing experience at Groove Kitchen. I wish I had been aware of your grievances at the time as I would have endeavoured to make certain you left Groove Kitchen having had a positive experience.
