Chef Jinu Abraham wins NZ Vegetarian Dish Challenge 2012 – Celebration Dinner 28 July.

To celebrate Jinu’s success, Heritage Auckland is holding a vegan winter celebration dinner at 6.30 PM on Saturday 28 July in Hectors restaurant, lobby level of Heritage Auckland at 35 Hobson Street (http://www.menumania.co.nz/restaurants/hectors-restaurant)

Before the dinner is a brief cooking demonstration of the winning dish by Jinu followed by a three course vegan meal for $55 GST inc. per person including a glass of vegan wine.

Jinu Abraham the executive chef of Heritage Auckland has been announced the winner of the inaugural New Zealand Vegetarian Dish Challenge 2012 organised by Vegetables.co.nz

Nationwide, chefs and caterers where invited to submit their favourite recipe featuring fresh New Zealand grown vegetables. Jinu entered a vegan dish from his extensive repertoire to win out over 200 other entries.
The Vegetarian Dish Challenge culinary judges decision was unanimous in awarding Jinu Abraham’s entry of baby vegetables with olive, celeriac, candied walnut and macadamia cheese, the winner. The dish will feature on the Hectors restaurant menu this winter.

“I am truly honoured to receive this prize. It’s great to be rewarded for what I love to do every day. The vegan menu development at Heritage Auckland has been a journey and this win is a very exciting milestone on the way,” says Jinu Abraham executive chef Heritage Auckland.
