I had an outstanding lunch in the sunshine at Soul Bar, with a relaxing environment, great food & extremely excellent wait-staff. Uber-attentive waiters/waitress topped up my water-glass whenever it got low, I was greeted warmly, and had my napkin laid out on my lap for me. I was greeted by a very knowledgeable and friendly young woman who recommended the perfectly cooked, succulent squid entree – because I had limited time. It arrived freshly cooked, literally within 3 minutes of me ordering – accompanied by the crisp rocket & parmesan side-salad I ordered. Georgeous setting – view of boats & harbour bridge. Sunshine washing in over all the corporate lunch diners, on the open-sided deck – which is sheltered outside under a glass awning/ceiling. With Fat Freddy’s Drop playing in the background . . . the perfect lunch experience.

The long wait for a booking was well worth it ! The degustation menu was an absolute experience. A small dining room but food to die for. Service was faultless and when I have saved up again I will be back.

Fabulous in every way. The interior is sophisticated and intimate. The service was lovely and unpretentious. The food was just divine. Would definitely recommend for a special night out.
This is my favourite restaurent in Auckland, its cosy, inviting and you only have a handful of choices (I hate overdone menus). I have had most of the dishes and they are all melt in your mouth delicious. Service is impecible and the best part of all….the creme burlee for desert!

Dined at recommendation and not disappointed. Delicate tastes and textures combined with grace most effectively. The wasabi pannacotta a treat. Outstanding, food and service great ambience, well worth a visit.
great dining experiance delicious pizza, good steak too. Really enjoyed their good desserts. The Creme brulee was the most intense, good serving size too as expected by the prices really quite good dining. Just needa turn the music down a touch to you can talk to each other.
Having eaten at The french Cafe at least six times in the last 10 months – What can we say that hasn’t been said by so many reviewers over the years. The reason we keep going back is The French Cafe is a rare jewel in the NZ dining scene, a sophisticated restaurant that can do what it does so very well in any country, not just NZ. For first class food, service and a lovely wine list that is one of the best bargains in Auckland. Just go!

The Grove is my favourite restaurant for fine dining in Auckland City alongside Merediths & The French Café). I’ve eaten there on 3 occasions and never been disappointed. This is fine dining at it’s best ($25 entrées/$40 a main), the service is attentive, wine list extensive and food always incredible. If you like big plates of food for cheap then I’d head elsewhere, if you’re after a special night out then The Grove is perfect.

It was my wife’s birthday and where better to go than Vinnies. Upon walking through the door it lets you know your in for something well and above much of whats on Ponsonby rd area. We enjoyed a gloriously delicious degustation menu together with a tasting selection of French wines – It was refreshing to be reminded just why French wines are so very much enjoyed by so many citizens around the world. At home in NZ normally drink and much appreciate NZ wines – I guess it was the difference that contributed to making a the evening as special as it was. Service proved as elegant and finessed as the restaurant itself. Vinnies degustation menu is not inexpensive but ultimately proves great value with so many course all beautifully served. Will we go back – unquestionably a resounding yes
