hi, i come to this cafe at least once a fortnight for the last 2 years, the food in the cabinet is always delicious and the cakes and slices are top quality home made and delicious. The food on the menu is delicious and well presented and the coffee is fab. I come here with my young children and the staff are always friendly and helpful ,thank you. I dont know what the other comments are based on but im a fan.
All of the food is make on the premises and it shows. The food is excellent and the service is first class. Pays to book if you want to eat at lunch time.

Friendly service, good food.
You know you are almost always going to get a good feed at the Lone Star. We’ve been going over the last few years and it has been good but the change in menu a couple of years ago meant we lost some of our favourites. (Bring back the Tequila Scallops!) Portions are large, in fact we alway order the small servings. Service is polite and helpful and if you choose the right time to go you can avoid the larger, noisier family groupings. Only problems we have had has been with going at the ends of holiday weekends where they tend to run out of food and use substitute ingredients in the dishes.
had breakfast last week, the girl behind the counter was really friendly, and my eggs benne was fantastic. keep up the good work!

Discovered this on a Saturday morning for breakfast – was really good, food and service and prices. Went back on Sunday! Would like to have tried the dinner.

I’ve been here at different times for breakfasts, full dinners and desserts. Decor and surroundings are nice and the staff have been friendly. The food has been quick and well presented. The meals weren’t large servings but I felt that the quality was excellent and was happy to pay the price for the overall dining experience.

What a find! This place is just lovely – grape vines, beautiful gardens and restaurant in an old villa. We had a very loooong and enjoyable lunch thanks to the superb food and wine, but also to the very friendly staff (cheers Jo). We will return again soon and highly recommend

Great creole food,as close to New Orleans as you can get in New Zealand, friendly staff
Cute little cafe!! Really good for a place to get out of Chch where you don’t have to drive to far. Nice food and service. Reminds me of the Seven garden centre cafe in Riccarton by the Count Down.
Been going here for over 15 years. Excellent food, excellent service. Extensive menu. Top breakfast restaurant in Chch. Only drawback is now that it has moved into a larger building we are subjected to using the more ‘public’ toilets as they are not located inside the restaurant itself.
