Have been to this restaurant a couple of times in the last few months. The first time, the service was very slow, but the food was OK. Last visit we ordered the crumbled calamari and this arrived overcooked and greasy. The crumbs were dark brown.
Do not think also that the choice of food on the menu is great. We had some enjoyable lunches here about a year or two ago.

We loved going to 180 degrees but on our last visit we were bitterly disappointed. I take it it is under new management?
Other visits the food was beautiful this time it was shocking.

Just went to cafe for lunch. We were given menus and told that someone would be over to take our order.
We sat outside and waited for 20 odd minutes and noone came out. not only this all of the tables out side were unclearedso we moved some so that we could sit down.
the remaining tables stayed full of dirty dishes.
This is totally disappointing compared to the other times I have been to this cafe.
180 Degrees, please sort out your service. beacuse to be honest? its horrid.

We went for breakfast early this morning as not many other places were open, and what a pleasant surprise. It’s under new management, the deco has been refreshed, so has the menu. The whole vibe of the cafe is sooo much nicer, the price of the food is reasonable and our meals were tasty. I had the bubble and squeak, it was excellent. The only thing holding you back now is the apparent refusal of staff to deliver water to the table. Instead we are pointed to where to get it ourselves. As the only customers in the cafe, I find this to be very lazy so only four stars when I would have given you five.

I used to be a regular at 180 degrees despite the service only being OK. However, the service has go worse and we have stopped going.
The final straw came about three weeks ago. I ordered a muffin (heated) and a coffee. My friend ordered fries and a coffee. We also asked for water. About 15 minutes later our coffees arrived. I reminded the staff we asked for water but no water came. It took another 10 minutes for the fries to arrive (with no fork despite asking for one). We again asked for water, asked for a fork and
I followed up on my muffin. Nothing arrived. We caught the eye of the staff and reminded about what was to come. We got water and a fork but still no muffin. In total, I had to ask three times for my muffin before it arrived. When it arrived it was not heated. I had to send it back to be heated. It should not take four attempts and 40 mins to get a muffin right.
Poor service means I will not be going back.

I gave this one star as i could not give it Zero which it really deserves.
I would never eat at this place again, not only was the food plain and dry and the coffee so weak it was almost watered milk they charged me twice for the meal. when i talked about this they told my they would credit the payment back to me and never did.
repeated emails and calls to them go unanswered, i feel sorry for the staff as management are pathetic.

After reading some of the other reviews we thought hmmmm!but we had won a voucher so we did.So glad we did too. The whole experience was very pleasant. The waitress was well presented, helpful and attentive. The pre dinners were delivered promptly, in clean glasses,my beer was cold, the ladies’bourbons were made with fresh coke.
All 3 of us decided that entrees were the way to go, 2 of us having 2 and the other only 1. I am glad we opted for this choice as without exception they were generous portions, delicious and beautifully presented. the seafood chowder was hot, creamy, and full of tasty morsels. The pate, seved with home made chutney and beautifully toasted bread was melt in the mouth and super tasty.
The 2 ladies had the thai inspired pork served with rice (fall apart tender) and redolent of the tastes of Thailand. I had the smoked salmon salad and WOW it was divine. Capers, anchovies, rocket heaps of salmon and a dressing to die for.
for dessert we shared a limoncello panacotta and a large slice of the best banoffi pie in a long days march.
All in all a great night out.
the only comment I would make is that the red wine on the list should also be offered by the glass.
Go back… you bet!!!

We have eaten here before and have enjoyed the food but our last visit until now, was in April 2010. What a let down! My wife and I just wanted coffee and a snack. I’m diabetic so desserts are not for me. Imagine my surprise to discover that the only savoury snack was soup! I couldn’t believe it. Pathetic! Disappointing! Shabby! We will not go back.

Bad Service, Owner downgrading my mates becuase of size and after pointing out that 40min wait for food was not good enough as they didnt have knife and forks, (this place sits 80 people and 30 were present on day) they decide they should get the chef to drag me to the front door infront of all the customers to get rid of myself and group of 14 others.

The worst dining experience I’ve endured for some time. Reminds me a lot of the dining experience you get around Fox Glacier, the kind where you know that they don’t rely on repeat patronage, they let the location draw people in. The food is average at best, completely overpriced and, and took nearly 1.5 hours to arrive. In-between, we had to ask 4 times for our drinks, and finally the waitress came over very apologetically, and offered complimentary drinks, which never arrived!!! Never again.
After a longish wait for our meals [they wandered around for a while before returning to the kitchen with them], we had to ask three times for water [the young woman then proceed to deliver meals and water to others, just not us]. They were really rushed and disorganized. Finally when the water came the glasses were those Irish coffee ones with handles. On asking for water glasses the manager who brought them said that as she had just lost her husband [my friend perhaps unnecessarily asked had she put him down and not remembered where she'd put him] our request for water was petty in the grand scheme of things. Our waitress said later that they had sent a waitress home because it wasn’t busy before. When I paid the bill I said that it was the most appalling service I’d ever had. We won’t be back.

I like the food here. The big breakfast is excellent you won’t get better on the coast. I don’t like that they leave the doors open it’s often freezing in the cafe and this often puts me off as I don’t like to be cold. I don’t like the staff sitting out the front smoking and then coming into serve. Not nice.
We were turned away from another restaurant in Waikanae so we popped in here on Sunday afternoon. The place was PACKED with 3 servers on the floor serving probably 20+ tables.
Despite a long wait (which was fair enough given the packed state of the place) we were served by positive upbeat waitstaff and the food was EXCELLENT.
I ordered a steak sandwich which was a bit rare (perhaps you should specify to the waitstaff which way you’d like it cooked) but it was absolutely delicious!
All 5 meals were served hot and everybody cleaned their plate they were so good. They were lovely with my 2 year old daughter, providing coloured pencils and paper for her. Will definitely go back again. This place doesn’t have a lot of ambiance (just a big room with a tables stuffed in)but the food and service makes it worth it.

Came out covered in cat hair, think its disgusting they allow cats throughout the cafe. At least they should clean daily to ensure you don’t walk out covered!
Food was good.

Incredibly disappointed by my experience here. My partner and I were planning on having a nice lunch here. We arrived at 2.15pm, were given menus, and told someone would be along to take our order shortly. Staff then proceeded to clear tables and do everything but come and take our order. Twenty minutes later, we were still waiting, and decided to go and find lunch elsewhere. I would like to add, they weren’t exactly rushed off their feet – there were only two other couples and one group of four in the cafe! To top it all off, as we were leaving the waitress called Thank You to us – thank you for what? Waiting so patiently for nothing? Will not be going back here again.

After having a bad experience here a few years ago we decided one Sunday morning to give it another shot. We wanted to have brunch (not lunch) and as we got to the café at 11.40 as we were reading the menu we noted that the brunch menu finished at 11.30. We asked the waitress that given it was only 10 minutes after 11.30, and in our mind, how hard would it be to do a couple of eggs, bacon and sausage etc, well, clearly it was far too hard. Given the negativity of the response, no offer to ask the chef or whatever, we left – NEVER TO RETURN. Would be fair to say that not much has changed here so far as service and friendliness (or lack of) is concerned – whether the food is good or bad is irrelevant to us as the lasting impression is the one we were given by staff. Sooner or later someone will wake up to the fact that this kind of thing will cost them as normally we go out in groups of 6 or 8, so do the numbers and work that one out.

I recently went to this restaurant for brunch with my friends. We were seated straight away, but at a dirty table, which was promptly cleaned. The menu was fantastic, so much variety i had trouble choosing what i wanted to have. we waited a long time for our orders to be taken, and ended up walking up to the counter to place our order. We were seated promptly once more and apologised to for the delay. The food was very impressive, my friend ordered the 360degree big breakfast, which i have to say was the biggest most impressive looking breakfast i have ever seen! i had a BLT bagel, which was very nice also. All in all i would rate the food 9/10, and the service 6/10.

Well I have gone back again, and it was very Good, I had the quiche from the cabinet which was excellent, the only gripe I would have was the lovely waitress asked if I would like a side salad with my quiche, and I said yes, but it automatically came with a side salad so I got two, where the one that accompanied my quiche would have been more than sufficient.
The salad was lovely, and the quiche served with an interesting & tasty home made chutney.
My friends had the risotto, which they really enjoyed. The place was buzzing and busy, the service was very good, and the toilets were clean! Will definitely be back.

Nice place, good looking menu – loads of options went with the veg brekkie, and it looked great on the plate, but was pretty average. Service was ok, *it would be nice to get cutlery at the same time as you get your meal* and if you are wondering as I did what ‘boston beans’ are they are a flash name for the humble tinned baked beans. Might go back.
