i think the new owners took over a taste of asia it is ok,the chicken pad thai is better now if customer give them another chance,if they come back they will do lot better

I’m a Westmere local and I’ve had a few meals from A Taste of Asia over the last couple of years. It’s not top of the line asian food, but it’s definitely a big step up from your bog-standard chinese takeaways. The meals are really big, and mostly pretty tasty. They aren’t stingy with ingredients in my experience, and are good value for money. I hadn’t been there for ages but went along tonight and got a nasi goreng. It was plenty big enough for my partner and myself, which at $12.80 for two makes about the cheapest meal you could hope for. It was actually pretty good, and they were quite generous with the seafood.
If you’re after cheap and cheerful good value for money, these guys are worth a try. Oh and their snapper and chips is excellent.

Ordered a chicken pad thai to eat in – it was bad, bad,bad. Basically it was a big pile of noodles with some sugar syrup poured over it, encircled at the base with steamed cauliflower and a garnish of toasted onion flakes. Nothing to do with pad thai.
The fact there were only 2 or 3 microscopic pieces of chicken on the whole plate will not come as a surprise then.
I expected better because of the neighbourhood and because there were many take-away customers there at 7PM. I told the manager in charge how bad it was and she got aggressive and argued with me. On a scale of 1 to 10 this place gets a ZERO. Also the below review is clearly a shill, someone trying to write English but not quite getting the details right, like a reptilian from outer space trying to be human, in a science fiction movie…

We just moved to Westmere from Ponsonby and on Saturday night tried the local takeaway for 4 of us, got

1 x chicken fried rice
Teriyaki chicken burger
cheese burger
egg burger

and was $25? so yum too! highly recommended!
