On the best days its slightly above a food court curry, on its worst days it’s plain bad. It’s better than Raviz down the road who seem to nuke half their dishes, but neither can touch Bombay Blues for taste, consistency and hygiene.
Take the extra 5 minutes to drive to Panmure and check out Indian Pepper or Sri Puteris, or Bombay Blues in Glenn Innes.
Seriously average, I find the reviews so suspect, as even on their best days their curries are worse than my dad’s ringburners.

P.s. I like the review below where the guy gives Ajadz a negative review after being disgruntled from Raviz, sounds like that habitual complainer needs to get a life! Haha

Back to business
The rice was real average must be low quality rice but just wasn’t to appealing
curry was ok nothing to go over the moon about you could probably say it was just a wee bit better then mall curry.
Raviz curry is alright i usually go there weekly because its close and convenient but service has put me off.
Ajadz is pretty much always empty and I know why, the food is average

I was horrified when I got a takeaway from this place to find, quarter of the way through eating it, that there was a maggot in the rice. I threw the meal away, and took the rice back, with the offending maggot, looking for a full refund.
They were reluctant to refund me, and tried to offer me more rice and some papadums! I insisted and eventually got a full refund.
Aside from the maggot incident I found the whole experience of being an Ajadz customer extremely underwhelming.
- On taking my order they were slow, disinterested and vague about when it would be ready.
- On collecting the order I had to wait longer than I was told over the phone, I was not greeted when I came up to the counter (the staff member was busy on the phone). There was no apology for being late with my order.
I will certainly NOT be going back to Ajadz again, not just as a result of the obvious poor hygiene standards of the restaurant, but also as a result of the whole experience and the manner in which the staff dealt with me both before and after the maggot was returned to them.

Our meals were tasty, the service very good and the prices great. The wait staff were friendly.
We will return to Ajadz and recommend it as an okay place to eat.

The gentleman who assisted me was polite, but no smile. He said the food would be ready in 20 Min’s and it was done in less….so far so good.
At home, the garlic naans were terrible, looked like they had just spread some cut up garlic pieces over the naan, which all fell off when i picked it up to eat it.the butter chicken was really nice, nicely spiced, soft and tender. The lamb korma was terrible….the lamb pieces where chewy, tasted bland and wasn’t even close to being medium.the butter chicken was tastier and “hotter” than the lamb korma.
Not impressed at all, doubt we will be eating from there again, for $60 I was expecting much better.

It’s a pretty down-to-earth low key place, very non-pretencious with the decor (or lack of decor!).. But the food was very very tasty and reasonably priced, decent portion sizes as well. Also, love love love the BYO wine with no corking fees!
Perfect little place for a quiet dinner

Our friend who was dining with us said their butter chicken was better than any he had eaten in London and the decided it was the best he had ever eaten anywhere.
The staff were very lovely and the prices are great.
A fantastic dining experience

Their Butter Chicken and Vegetable Korma are our favourites, but we have always been happy when we purchase from here.
We always get takeaway, they do have a restaurant as well but don’t expect much atmosphere if you eat in – but I’m sure the food will still be great!

We had the Balti Chicken, Naans and baaji from Ajadz.
Too salty: I use a lot of salt in my cooking (my wife complains I use too much) BUT the Balti Chicken was far too salty even for me. Even ‘diluting’ the sauce mixed with rice was still too salty to eat.
Cheap rice: we received standard long-grain rice which was cooked with too much water and the added salt did not go well. We expect basmati rice from an indian restaurant.
Onion Bhaaji: not nice. They were dry and contained very little onion.
Would never return to this place personally.

The flavours are absolutely stunning.
I would rate the dine-in atmosphere as only satisfactory though, as I find the wide-open space feels a little exposed to the other diners, and perhaps a bit unimaginative, and I don’t like the chairs. Still, if you want mind-blowing Indian food – these guys have got it. I would drive a long way, and past many other Indian restaurants to dine at Ajadz in Ellerslie.
