Dinner | 22 June 2011 | For a reasonably priced mid-week Indian meal this is a good little restaurant.

Our meals were tasty, the service very good and the prices great. The wait staff were friendly.

We will return to Ajadz and recommend it as an okay place to eat.

Our favourite Indian restaurant and takeaway which is great because we are in Ellerslie and it is so close to home (and funnily enough we haven’t enjoyed Adjadz chains in other areas and the people at Raviz were so rude to us we won’t go back there). The Manager is always very polite and friendly and remembers us which is nice. The food is always delicious – we usually order Korma, Butter Chicken or Butter Prawns but have also sampled other dishes with friends and they have been delicious. My brother ordered the Vindaloo “Indian Hot” as he love spicey and hot and was pleased with his dish (I couldn’t stand a taste on my finger!). Naan is excellent – we like the plain but also order garlic naan which we love as it has garlic cut up all over it. Waiters are happy to provide iced water which is great. The restaurant is lacking in imagination and atmosphere and you do have people walking past you for takeaways if you sit too close to the big counter, but the food makes up for this. We choose to takeaway mainly. They also give out free poppadoms. We are going there tonight!

Tonight i ordered a takeaway of 2 mild butter chickens, for the wife and kids, and a medium lamb korma for myself. …I’m a fan of nice spicy foods(as long as i have a tongue left at the end)i also ordered 2 garlic naans and 2 plain naans.total order amount $60.00.

The gentleman who assisted me was polite, but no smile. He said the food would be ready in 20 Min’s and it was done in less….so far so good.

At home, the garlic naans were terrible, looked like they had just spread some cut up garlic pieces over the naan, which all fell off when i picked it up to eat it.the butter chicken was really nice, nicely spiced, soft and tender. The lamb korma was terrible….the lamb pieces where chewy, tasted bland and wasn’t even close to being medium.the butter chicken was tastier and “hotter” than the lamb korma.

Not impressed at all, doubt we will be eating from there again, for $60 I was expecting much better.

Went there last night for dinner, and will definitely visit again!

It’s a pretty down-to-earth low key place, very non-pretencious with the decor (or lack of decor!).. But the food was very very tasty and reasonably priced, decent portion sizes as well. Also, love love love the BYO wine with no corking fees!

Perfect little place for a quiet dinner :D

I haven’t been to Ajadz in ages but we were there again last night and the food is definitely superb! I would definitely rate it is serving the best Indian in Auckland!

Our friend who was dining with us said their butter chicken was better than any he had eaten in London and the decided it was the best he had ever eaten anywhere.

The staff were very lovely and the prices are great.

A fantastic dining experience

This is not our closest Indian restaurant, but we always drive here to purchase as their curries have real flavour .

Their Butter Chicken and Vegetable Korma are our favourites, but we have always been happy when we purchase from here.

We always get takeaway, they do have a restaurant as well but don’t expect much atmosphere if you eat in – but I’m sure the food will still be great!

I love Ajadz! High quality, delicious Indian dishes. One of my favourite places to eat, although most of the time I order takeaway. It is beautiful food and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Indian cuisine.

Bad bad bad…

We had the Balti Chicken, Naans and baaji from Ajadz.

Too salty: I use a lot of salt in my cooking (my wife complains I use too much) BUT the Balti Chicken was far too salty even for me. Even ‘diluting’ the sauce mixed with rice was still too salty to eat.

Cheap rice: we received standard long-grain rice which was cooked with too much water and the added salt did not go well. We expect basmati rice from an indian restaurant.

Onion Bhaaji: not nice. They were dry and contained very little onion.

Would never return to this place personally.

Food was nice, service was terrible, waitress couldn’t answer simple questions, she never once smiled, and banged the dishes on to the table without giving them to the right person.

Well if you want the best Indian food in Auckland and a pleasent experience with great service this this is the place to go. I have been a regular at Ajdaz for over six years and although I have been forced to try other Indian resturants I will always rate Ajdaz as the best. A simple resturant with the best food.

This is my favourite Indian takeaway place in this area. In fact, it’s probably my favourite Indian food in the whole of Auckland.
The flavours are absolutely stunning.
I would rate the dine-in atmosphere as only satisfactory though, as I find the wide-open space feels a little exposed to the other diners, and perhaps a bit unimaginative, and I don’t like the chairs. Still, if you want mind-blowing Indian food – these guys have got it. I would drive a long way, and past many other Indian restaurants to dine at Ajadz in Ellerslie.
