Went back recently after vowing never to go again about 2 years ago as the noise and service then was horrific! But we had a lovely meal and there is now a carpet on the floor so we could hear conversation. Would now return again soon.

We ordered the Bread Cob and the Mussels for our entree, the bread dipped in the mussels sauce was to die for and the mussels were so fat and juicy, yummy. Our mains my partner ordered the Pork Belly and I ordered the lamb dish **Dukkah** everything was just delicious and meat cooked to perfection. Of course a meal is not complete without dessert, we ordered the Sticky Date pudding and I the Chocolate Raspberry Tart. Delicious. The experience in total, the food was really tasty and atmosphere very pleasant. I would suggest that they may wish to hire more staff from the sudden in flux of more customers. I am so going back there again!

After reading some of the other reviews I was a little apprehensive but when we arrived it was nice and warm, cosy, the candles were lit and the music was playing…lovely ambiance. The food was delicious, I had prawns, involtini and cheesecake. We took our own wine which was great and the staff were very friendly. We had a wonderful dinner out, thank you Amphora!!

We had a great night at Amphora last Wednesday. We had booked for 21 people but only 13 could attend. However, the staff were very considerate of this. The food was delicious, I had the best mushroom soup I have ever tasted. Everyone enjoyed all aspects of the meal. Deserts were filling and delectable. The staff were very helpful

went here first time and would be the last
we waited a good near hour for our food maybe it was because we ordered a cob which we finished really quick
but anyway the meal i ordered was a pork something but what came was like a pork schitnzel , like you could buy at a supermarket with a tomotoe paste sauce which basically tasted like from a can …

the food wasnt that good but the wait time was terrible ‘sorry

After heading a bunch of good reviews from friends/locals about Amphora my partner and I headed there for a meal last night.

There were a handful of tables occupied on arrival and we were given a table for two right in the doorway (it was an outdoor table that had been dragged inside). Straight away we felt the restaurant was lacking atmosphere. Candles were not lit and tables were not set to look inviting. The background music was very low so the restaurant just seemed very quiet and the people at surrounding tables could no doubt hear every word of our quite lively conversation!

The waitress was pleasant and took our drinks and food order quickly however we then had to wiat nearly 15 minutes for the wine to be delivered to the table. It looked as if there was just one waitress servicing the 7 or so tables whilst the three chefs looked on waiting for her to deliver meals to the tables. At one point I even suggested to the waitress that I pop up to the kitchen and get the bread that had been sitting there for several minutes waiting to be delivered.

I had presumed the bread would be a handcrafted/artisan loaf so was disappointed that it was a bought in basic white cob bread.

My partner ordered the lamb which he said was really good. It looked to be perfectly cooked and was well presented. I had the carbonara which turned out to be a very basic pasta dish with a high ratio of penne to sauce. The bacon seemed to be a cheap commercial bacon with no real flavour. Overall the pasta was nothing I couldn’t make myself.

On to dessert, apple crumble for my partner, and sticky date cake for me. My partner is an apple crumble fan from way back and he said it was the worst he’d eaten. Unfortunately my date cake was average at best.

So we left Amphora some $130 lighter and feeling like we really didn’t get value for money. Unfortunately we won’t return and our quest for a great restaurant in the Pakuranga/Botany area continues.

I am so surprised after reading some reviews…were these people at the same restaurant ? I have been here tons of times: catching up with mum, dinner with our family, lunch with the girls etc etc EVERY single time the food is top notch & service is lovely. I can’t believe the chef gets all the meals out so perfectly & quickly working in such a small space…well done! I have never ever experienced anything bad about the place…apart from it being busy. I would totally recommend this to anyone that asks. EG: When I asked my girlfriends to join me for lunch here they came back with things like ‘yay’,'yum’ and ‘awesome’, as they had been there before. What more can I say ??

Amphora is really close to where I live. Decided to pop in at 9pm on Tuesday for dessert. The restaurant was generally empty with three tables being full.

When we walked in and asked whether they did dessert only, a pre-occupied female pointed out to the board.

We weren’t shown our seats or greeted so we took it upon outselves to wait on a table for 10 minutes, no one came. Went to the counter to place my order and asked whether the restaurant had waiting staff. The woman said rudely that ” I have been busy making these desserts”. I said we had been waiting for 10 minutes and she argued saying that it hasn’t been the case.

Anyways, not wanting to argue with her any more, asked for the manager, and she responded that she was the manager. Advised that we won’t be dining at her restaurant due to her attitude and voiced that her service was extremely poor. Would never go back here again. This is no way to treat clients and we felt discriminated by this woman, who spoilt our night.

The food is excellent both luch and dinner ,the service is great and having been here several times and tried many dishes i have found Amphora very consistant.
Amphora is not somewhere you want to go if you are on a budget but you do get value for money.
I have taken friends here as well as work groups and all where empressesed.
There lunch menu special is very reasonable.
I have ordered their steak sandwhich with fries many a time and at around twelve dollars it is chepar than anywhere else I have been locally and tastier.
Amphora dont charge you corkage unlike most other byo establishments which is a nice touch.

We had a most enjoyable meal here on Wednesday. The only complaint came from a 6yr old who said “it’s really noisy in here”! The restaurant was full, the food was delicious, really enjoyed the antipasto. They serviced the children first. Top marks as far as I am concerned! This is my second visit there, and I will definitely be going back again! Yum!

Six of us decided to dine at Amphora and we all agreed it was an excellent meal.
Our entrees of calamari, chicken livers and mussels are a must when we return to this restaurant. The mains of steak, chicken and pasta were perfection. I could not resist ordering, for the table, the usual bowl of fries even though a generous plate of vegetables was served with our meals. We had 3 bottles of wine between us and no corkage charged. Fabulous night…..good friends good wine and excellent food and it didnt cost the earth!
