Rustic French cuisine with the odd anomaly thrown in (paua ravioli- odd but tasty). The flavours are robust and rich. I have been consistently impressed with their food and beverage menus. A night at Andre is not cost effective, but is a rich treat.

My partner and I visited this restaurant for my birthday and were not hugely impressed. A really amazing location and beautiful decor. We assumed that because we had booked that it was safe to sit at the bar for a drink before we took our table. We later realised that all the groups that walked in off the street were getting their pick of the tables and we just had to take what we could get when we were finished in the bar. On the two occassions that menus were delivered to the table it took a while for our orders to be taken. Also my partners steak was dry and chewy. For a meal for 2 that costs over $200 I would have expected a lot more. On the upside the soup and dessert were very nice.

Electric candles… disappointing

Had a wonderfully romantic dinner there on the weekend. Busy restaurant but attentive staff who could answer any questions about the menu. Diverse menu that Im told is seasonal and changes frequently. Excellent creme brulee and charismatic owner/chef/manager Andre.

My partner and I went to Andre’s for dinner in February and we were very disappointed. We phoned in advance to advise we were vegeterian and they advised they would cater to our needs. However, they only had one vegeterian option which was not on the menu and was not very nice. My partner did not like the sound of that dish, so they made her up some vegetables which were part of another meat dish. Both mine and my partners dishes were not very nice and not really a complete dish, they were more like an after thought. The dishes they made were also expensive. The entree which was on the menu was nice though. The food certainly didn’t live up to its price tag, and we definitely wont be going back.

Andre’s is the only place in New Plymouth that you are gauranteed to have an excellent meal. We have been many times and not once have we left disappointed. The service is excellent, the meals are exceptional and the environment is perfect.

You may pay a little bit extra, but it is always money well spent.

I highly recommend Andre’s to anyone who wants a great meal.

Dined on a Monday evening when there were only about 3 or 4 tables occupied. There were lots of things unavailable on the menu and the food took forever to arrive. I had the lamb rack and it was as tough as old boots, my husband had the fish of the day and it was not very nice. We had to ask the waiter to take our order for coffee, were not offered the desert menu. Very disappointing and will not bother to dine there again.

I have travelled the world, stayed in some beautiful cities, eaten in fabulous restaurants, and still rate Andre’s number 1!

Excellent service & the food is the best in town. Very exciting menu, cant wait to go back to experience more. Highly recommended.

Food to die for. Absolutely loved it, could not find any faults or flaws. Would, and have recommended to everyone.
