I love Angusburgh

I am a fully qualified chef and the food is amazing. I like the Otago Oink with cheese. This is what Dunedin has being dying for. No more expensive bland processed fast food. If you want a quick cheap meal any night of the week i recommend Angus Burgh.

Tryed a burger in the weekend and was not impressed at all. The meat pattie was burnt and an over load of tomato sauce made the bun real soggy and difficult to eat. To top it off i found the staff to be quite unpolite and unfriendly i wont be returning.

Ordered two burgers from Angus in George St, Dunedin last night and would never go back again!
There were 6 uninterested people behind the counter – when a young guy had supposedly finished cooking the meat and bacon he was sneered at by the girl and told to cook it for longer – he gave her a look which basically sealed the places fate for me – not a good start.
When the burgers were ready the same girl (with a sour look on her face) asked if I wanted them in a bag (pretty obvious really!!!!)
The burgers were terrible – soggy, cold, no taste with oozing sauces that tasted of nothing. The fish burger was the worst – strong tasting fish, soggy batter with a horrible aftertaste. The other burger was no better – Angus pattie tasteless, bacon soggy and an overall bad experience.
How hard is it to make a good burger – not very!!!
Take lessons from Velvet Burger guys and get some Kiwi Host skills – not one of you looked like you wanted to be there!!!

My girlfriend and I went to Angus Burgh last week after seeing the place open last month.

We both got Angus Burgers, I added cheese for $1.

Where to start? The patty was horrible. It had a very unpleasant, almost sausage-like consistency like you’d find in the frozen section of the supermarket (I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s where they get their patties from).

It was oozing juices. Not tasty meat juices like a good burger should have, but whatever it was left a bad aftertaste in our mouths for some time afterward. The patty was probably the worst part – not a good thing for a burger.

The bun was untoasted and cold.

Completely overloaded with relish, it was literally pouring out of the burger. The relish has little flavour besides sugary sweetness. It’s probably there to hide that awful tasting beef.

The so called ‘cheddar cheese’ had absolutely no flavour. I compared the taste with my girlfriend’s burger (which had no cheese), and couldn’t tell any difference in taste.

There was also some sad looking tomato and lettuce in there.

The burger is $6.50, which is pretty cheap compared to most ‘gourmet’ burger places, and yet we felt completely ripped off. This is not a gourmet burger. It’s not even a good burger. It’s lowest common denominator food. If you’re drunk or like nasty food, then knock yourself out. Anyone else, stay the hell away.
