Lovely decor, very warm and inviting atmosphere, we Had a fantastic meal, Service was fantastic, loved the pizza especially the dessert pizza. Very affordable. Thank you Art of Pizza for a great night.
I think it’s great that new restaurants like this are opening up in Upper Hutt. The decor was modern and pleasant, the service speedy and the pizza tasty. We will definitely be back.

I myself occasionally with others have dined in or taken out from the Art of Pizza, every single occasion has been fantastic, the food incredible (no more chain pizzas for us), service and atmosphere exceptional and most of all Chris and his crew are very welcoming and inviting! Well done, keep up the good work!

What a great find in Upper Hutt. Real pizza – you know real pizza does not have a tower of toppings aye kiwi`s!!
Base has a nice texture, such a good change from the doughy bases usually found. Really good flavour combo, and the service was attentative and friendly.
Well set out with nice clean feel to the place.
Prices are fine though those that usually go for a franchise pizza will no doubt think otherwise. Hey, its pizza! tale care of the big stuff first.
Great place for an afterwork gathering or a casual meal out.
Coffee was also very good and good to see micro beers available.
Will be back again for sure.

Really nice place and somewhere we highly recommend.
Half an hour before going our party became a 5 rather the 4 we booked.I called and they sorted a table for us with minimal fuss despite it being a busy Saturday evening.
Yes the wine list is light, but they seem to have the balance of choice good enough for most, and the local ales available are a nice touch.
The food was spot on. Lots of options and a make your own for even the fussiest of eaters. Great taste and great portions, most people took advantage of the takeaway your left overs option which they happily do, as the pizzas are very filling.
Service was lovely, they looked after us very well. Pleasant and very engaged, not badgering us to leave to ease the casual turn up clients at all.
The main course pizza took a little longer than we expected but the place was rammed and when we caught the staffs attention to ask for when it was coming it was less than 5 mins away.
If you’re a couple out for a bite or a family with young kids I’d suggest you try this place, we will be returning very soon. Well done guys.

Was it worth $20 a pizza I thought so, you’re not only paying for pizza but service and a nice clean establishment as well. Service was done with a smile and the owner was a top bloke
Table for 11 next time round!!

Had been itching to check out Art of Pizza after hearing great reviews about it. We were seated promptly and thought the atmosphere was really nice. Their wine menu was quite limited, I would like to see more choices available.
The waitress that served us, while nice enough, didn’t know the menu. I ordered the salmon and it truly was superb! I have not tasted better and I recommend visiting just to try it. However, my three kids did not enjoy their pizzas. They generally eat anything but this time, were forcing themselves to eat her meals. I tried each of their pizzas and I conceded with them that they were lacking in topping (all I could taste was cheese and sauce, and little else. They were lacking in favour and weren’t well seasoned.
At the end I sent my teenage son up to pay and when he brought back the receipt, we had been overcharged by $70. The waitress was very apologetic when I queried the bill and instantly refunded me the difference.
I would visit again, but perhaps a few months down the track after they’ve worked through some teething problems.

Upon arrival the 3 ladies at the counter stood around debating who will serve me, then while I waited to order they looked at me as if I was a hindrance. The staff were very snobbish and customers seemed to be an inconvenience to them. All but the young boy helping prep pizzas and the chef who diligently fulfilled orders with the woodfire had poor customer service skills. The chef was lovely however and cooked with a smile. I ordered the pizzas takeaway and asked if they do pastas as well, they blew me off and again looked at me as if I were getting in the way of there gossip session, saying “if youre a kid we do pasta” obviously referencing the childrens menu. The flavours of the pizzas (“badaboom” and “two much”) were bland, the pizza base plain and the basil wasn’t fresh or flavorsome but instead dried from a packet. The dinner felt like a waste of money. I feel like I went on a night where the staff couldn’t be bothered being friendly or customer centric and for this reason, I won’t be going back. I’m sure it’s just a few teething issues while they’re establishing themselves in the market/comminuty but I was expecting authentic, simple, fresh and good service, and they didn’t deliver on these expectations. But, the place has several opportunities to be great at what they do and in time they’ll learn from these mistakes.

I have not tried the steak but I have however had a few pizzas from there and every time I am left slightly disappointed. Although the pizza base and sauce is beautiful! For the price you pay you do not get a lot of topping and it definitely needs more flavour in my opinion. However it is worth going if you want the dessert pizza. $12 split between four people over a coffee is enough to fill you up and serves as a lovely treat!
Went there tonight – this place has been open a week.
Our review: this is one of the better/best options in Upper Hutt for this sort of dining. Admittedly it lacked warmth, both in terms of decor (I assume they are still decorating the plain walls given the recent opening) and actual temperature, but it’s nonetheless worth a visit.
My chicken & brie pizza was amazing (like carbonara sauce on dough, and somehow that worked!), flavourful and well cooked. Hubby’s steak was beautifully cooked also, though for $29 the steak & salad could have used some pizzazz.
Staff were friendly and very good, though obviously new – our waitress told me she couldn’t recommend a wine as she didn’t drink it herself
The wine menu was adequate but a bit limited – I’d love to see some varietals, though for $7.50 a glass I’m not likely to complain too much!. Everyone was very polite and the chef was chatty and said hello – very pleasant.
We will definitely be going back and I do suggest Upper Hutt-ites check it out.
