Went for brunch for two. Nice outdoor and indoor with perfect sea views. I had gluten free pancakes with yogurt, it tasted very healthy, just like all GF food, I give it 7/10. My husband had nachos – 7.5/10. Portions were rather small. it could be a good thing for someone, who does not want to overeat. Service 8/10. I would come back again one day.

i will never go back here again, its a long story but in short…. went for dinner, meals were over 40 mins late and cold when they came out, i know restaurants can get busy so we were understanding , but cold meals are not nice, so nicly told them we were not too happy about our meals, staff and owner were very RUDE to us.

so you all can see why we will never go back again

What an absolutely ABYSMAL place to eat.

Went there for a meal and sat down at a table and when I asked if we could place our order I was told abruptly that they “don’t do table service” and would have to order at the counter. Food was insanely overpriced, completely tasteless and the service was absolutely appalling to say the least.

Rude staff, horrible food and ridiculous prices pretty much sums up this disgusting establishment.

I don’t know what is going through the owners mind but they seriously need to get a reality check.

Went there for dinner and honestly the best thing about the place was the service (hence why I put 2 stars instead of one). The atmosphere was good as well as the location and our waitress was very attentive and friendly. However the food we received was tasteless and EXTREMELY over-priced for what you got. Lets just say we didn’t bother hanging around for dessert. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

Went there a few weekends ago on a Sunday morning. Were the first to arrive as soon as the door opened. You’d expect a friendly greeting, but we didn’t even get a “hello”. Took a while to decide what to order as the prices were pretty high. I settled for raisin toast and a coffee. $10 for raisin toast and higher than normal coffee? I think this place also charges for the view.

Great location, you can watch the kids play on the beach as you sip a glass of wine. Nice ambiance inside, lots of old timbers used in construction, and somewhat outdated purple walls/seating, maybe a bit dark. Have eaten here a few times, mainly early evening, and have found the food mixed. Lamb curry was very far removed from a decent curry, but the meat was lean and tender. Rack of lamb was so fatty as to be inedible, maybe more consistent results with the vegetarian selections? Kids meals are very overpriced ($18-22 range) compared to other places, so I guess they are trying to discourage children. Service is usually very slow, and some of the wait staff can be surly and mumbling. It does not strike me that they are happy to be serving customers. So, summing up, great location, OK interior design if you like aubergine, mixed results food wise, often poor/slow service, and relatively expensive for what you get. Average at best.

I stopped into the bach today to grab a takeaway coffee as they use my favourite beans and was shocked when charged $4.90 for a regular dbl flat white. When questioned I was told it was .50c for the takeaway cup!! Having spent the last 20years living in Auckland, this would be the most expensive flat white I have ever paid for. In this case, should they not charge extra for the cleaning of the cup as well as rental, “in case of breakages” etc?? I know for a fact that one of those cups does not cost 50c, so they are making a profit on the vessel as well as the already very expensive coffee. At that price I would have expected the “barista of the year” to be behind the machine, but unfotunately my coffee did not live up to the standards of even a mediocre cup. Would not go back unless pricing change and will advise others to do the same.

Nice venue, good staff, but random and confused selection of food – trying to be a ‘fusion’ restaurant, but succeding in combining odd flavours and over complicating the palate. Presentation is good, but gluggy rice paper rolls filled with cheese should not be on the same plate as cinnamon couscous! Mu-shu duck does not need mashed potato in wonton paper. Also with so much Asian inspired food, chopsticks would be good, somethings are not designed to be eaten with a knife and fork. Desserts looked great, but after wishing I had continued to admire my main rather than eating it, I declined as could not face the disappointment.
Update a year later…have return many times for coffee during the year due to the great location, decor and resident cat of this place, but still do not understand the rude host/manager who cannot seemed bothered with customers just coming in for a coffee and counter staff who seem confused by simple requests – soy milk, or to split the bill. An over priced coffee balanced by a great location, guess you can’t have it all!
Another update – Its all over the place at the Bach. Great location so I keep going back with people who seem to love it. My experiences are always varied, last one was good though, it was a super busy day but the food AND drinks were resonablly fast! Varying factor seems to be the owner/manager presence.

Coming for brunch here over the weekend was a big mistake…

Not only did our table have to wait nearly 45minutes for a simple order of pancakes, bacon & scrambled eggs – one of our other meals was completely disgusting.

My partner had ordered Peachy Pancakes – (with CREAM). Upon receiving the order he had received passionfruit pancakes, served with cottage cheese rather than cream?
What were they thinking?! Rather than take it back and wait another 45minutes, we left hungry and extremely unsatisfied.

We also witnessed the owner running down her staff, and she came across very rude – not the kind of person that should be running a cafe/restaurant at all!…

The only thing that this place has going for it is the location. Oh, and they also don’t take daytime bookings…!
