Located in Queenstowns famous Mall, The Ballarat Trading Co has been described “as like stepping into another world”. Designed by award winning designer Tom Skyring, inspired by an 1850’s trading emporium. The Ballarat as it is known by locals is something truly unique embracing the colour of old world Queenstown.
Choose a cozy booth, sit in the courtyard or out in the sun drenched Mall, the Ballarat has it all. For a more private experience the alpine room offers dining for up to 24 people. Decorated with antique skis, alpine art work, cuckoo clocks and its own open fire this room is truly special.
The menu was designed with simplicity in mind, traditional favorites, complemented by a selection of Central Otagos and New Zealands finest wines.
There is something for everyone in this world class Gastro Pub

This place is very cool – I have never seen a fit out like it awesome atmosphere!
We dined last night and the place was pumping. My wife and I are only in Queenstown
for two night and had heard good reports. The menu is gastro pub and not expensive $25-$30 mains. We found the service friendly and attentive with out being annoying. I had the roast of the day and I have to say I have had a few pub roasts but this was a standout with all the trimmings. My wife had the pork belly and was happy but did say it could do with more pear sauce. Presentation is good without being fancy. The only issue was the noise from the busy bar.

I have eaten here many times and think the food is great. The pork belly is my favorite followed closely by the roast chicken dinner. Definitely a good place for food :D

Had an amazing meal this weekend, great service, wonderful breakfast/brunch menu. The portions were large and the tables outside were lovely and sunny. Worth a visit :)

What a cool place, I have dined out a lot but have never been any where with such a unique atmosphere, the food was fresh, fairly priced and delicious, service was friendly and efficient, we all had a great night – I highly recommend.

What a great dining experience my family had on Sunday for Brunch. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting by the way of music and surrounding decor. The food exquisite no complaints. Eggs Benedict & Stag Burger were the favs from the menu. A must see and do before you leave Queenstown:)

There are lots of great places to eat out in queenstown and this is NOT one of them. I ordered a lamb casserole with winter veggies, later to find that it was a tiny portion of lamb with maybe half a baby carrot, and it was average at that. They have people trying to entice you in at the door, that should have been a give away that it was below par. Dont bother the food is average and more expensive than many places that give you much better and bigger portions. Very disappointing, don’t think they will last long.

definitely not value for money – to be fair – the service was good but the quantity – should have gone to McDonald’s – menu quoted winter vegetables with my casserole – all i got is carrot then when asked for green vegetables – they charged me for it.!!
