I went to this restaurant recently and would certainly not go there again. I cannot say the sushi was of bad quality because it was not. The Sushi was average, but nothing close to fresh, nothing that melts in your mouth.

My utter disappointment was the chicken don buri. Although cheap, the worst quality I’ve ever had. The rice was stick and the chicken of very, very, poor quality. I cannot describe here how horrible it was. I left all of my plate and only did not demand a refund because I was in the biggest rush.

I recommend that if you are in the area and are on the lookout for a good don buri, take your time and go to Renkon K rd.

I know, that although I am always very close to Banzai Sushi, I will NEVER be returning there again. I’d much rather stay hungry.

I discovered this marvelous Sushi Hideout when I moved to Newton. It’s a little Sushi Supernova, as I found the range of Sushi you can have is quite different, and the Donburi’s are very tasty, although they appear to border on a western style presentation of japanese food.

all in all though, a very nice, clean, and tidy..

as well as suprisingly yummy place to dine especially if you love Japanese food!

With an Auckland office just down the road, I have wandered past Banzai a few times and seen how busy it is.

Found out why, as well as offering Bento bowls which looked really good (that I didnt try) Banzai offers a wide variety of shushi.

The sushi was an interesting mix, there were the usuals – chicken teriyaki etc. But most of the sushi was not wrapped in the usual seaweed, some covered in poppy seeds. There was also a really good genuine selection of raw fish sushi – which I happen to love – raw tuna, salmon and others.

Great place to stop for lunch if you like your sushi. If you’re looking for somewhere spacious though, this isn’t the place. Very few tables, but it is built for quick, casual lunchtime dining.
