I have followed these people from the 3 bean cafe to the current location, service & food always first class and The Batch is a credit to Donna & Gareth and their lovely staff.
Other towns in Southland could learn from this cafe ie if you are open, people will come to enjoy the atmosphere projected by the people that work there and are happy to be there unlike other establishments around the country. Attitude is everything, we own a commercial building opposite the batch and this cafe is a draw card for our tenants.

Our work team had an early morning breakfast just before Xmas last year. We had phoned and asked if we could send in our orders the day before so they could be started and ready promptly. No worries was the answer.
Well they had our orders at the counter but waited until everyone had arrived and paid before starting to cook so our wait time (there were 14 of us) was about 50 minutes and the last person was just on the hour. I had only ordered muesli so that wait was a stretch.
The food was good so I would go back in a smaller group, but it was frustrating to have to wait that long when we had planned to try and avoid that very thing.

I visit The Batch Cafe once a year when i visit friends in Invercargill…and it is amazing!!
The cheese scones are a must to take away for a sneaky afternoon tea. My # 1 breakfast/brunch choice would be the lemon and ricotta pancakes with blueberries…plus a side of bacon…absolutely devine! Thank god i don’t live closer as I would visit far too regularly.
My friend said it is the best eggs bene she has ever tasted.
Can’t wait for my next trip south

Very noisy cafe, not good for intimate conversation or business meals. Food took a while to arrive.

Gareth and Donna have got it right! We are regular visitors to The Batch. We love the attractive, interesting decor, friendly welcoming staff and of course the great coffee. Interesting counter food selection – the mini ginger bread loaf is my favourite. The board menu for brunch and lunch has something for everyone. Gareth’s is a mostly ex fisherman who knows a thing or two about fresh fish. My sister loves the pork belly! The wine list is very smart. If you want to sit, coffee and read the daily papers or a mag, have a coffee or breakfast meeting, Sat or Sun lunch or just meet the girls, The Batch is the place.
Nothing beats this cafe. The coffee is great, food fantastic and the best customer service in town. It is so nice to walk into a very busy cafe and you are always welcomed with open arms, no mater how busy it gets they always have time to say hello and to see how your day is going. They have a great menu and the home made cakes are to die for!
Gareth, Donna and Kate you guys rock!
