10 Reviews for The BBQ Master
Fantastic dining experience, friendly staff great communication, nice ice cold bottles of water brought to table as soon as we were seated, cutlery plates set out for arrival, explained the buffet areas.
Chef coming out constantly refreshing with fresh dishes awesome pancakes
great atmosphere.
We had a booking for 17 everything was to our delight especially after reading other reviews.
We were proberly the worst part for other dinners having 4 under 4′s and our one trying the great escape and having to run after her.
Play are entertained them a lot and with two pregnant ladies to 2 sick parents food was great for them
Fresh as, cooked correctly, food area extremely hygienic you could see yourself in stainless
A great Mother’s Day
Thanks BBQ master

Just got back from Hamilton BBQ Master, was rather concerned after reading the reviews here. Must say we were pleasantly surprised, I found yes the service was average but food was absolutely fine. We had 6 adults, 4 kids and we all enjoyed it. Maybe timing as we were 1st in there at 5.30 but yes as above no complaints from any of us. Didn’t use the toilet myself so no comment on that part.
They may have been taking notice of previous reviews as we got a run down on what’s there and how it works, just before we left the tables over also were asked the same question.
Only thing was at times had to wait for the cooking person to come from out the back and they only had a few bottles for water – and cook didn’t speak a lot of English so initially had problems asking for pancakes.

If I had read the reviews for this place before going I never would have bothered & instead forfeited our deal vouchers. The hygiene really is very bad. You could smell the raw meat in the stir-fry section. It definitely wasn’t fresh & had been sitting there so long the edges were hard & dried out. Hot food in the warmers was luke warm. Pancake batter sitting on the bench in an empty talleys gelatine bucket….gross! Would never return!

Went there last night after voucher deal. And never going back.
Started with the booking call. I asked for 7.30 booking, and the guy said not to come in to late, as they might run out of food. So we went at 7pm. Most dirty, unhygienic place I have ever eaten in. Like everyone else.. no ice in drinks, and meat was very old looking and not fresh at all. The salads looked disgusting and the soup looked like road-kill. The ice cream was that thick that it just done nothing when we pulled on the lever and don’t even get me started on the pancakes that took like 15 mins for 2 to be made. This place usually charges $28 per head for dinner !!
There was no rice in the bay-marie to go with the stir fry, and when we asked for more, he brought us out a glass of water. WTF??
Should have just gone to KFC for my birthday.

Food was good, great customer service. We will be and are coming back again.
Service and cooking areas were clean, toilet clean besides no hand cleaner is dated but I could see reflection in basin bench and loo so clean.
Shown around explained how the uncooked section worked, offered drinks.
Downside was no hand cleaner in toilet and not great for child who has to hold seat to sit on loo and the kids area needs serious clean, walls and balls are black argh but we will be back again.
And we informed them of what bothered us but food made up for it.
I have worked in the food industry for a long time and have always had an A-grade next to my name. Nothing wrong with food what so ever or serving areas, other areas do need attention though but older decal can be deceiving also and makes it look less desirable.

Bought a deal voucher.
Greeted and seated. No drinks offered.
Meat looked very old. Flies were on the chicken. Tiny flies were all over the fruit salad. Asked for a glass of coke zero-it was not coke zero that we were given-no ice-its summer for goodness sake. Carrot cake had been sitting there so long that it was discolored. We went up for pancakes-only one pancake was made and given to us-pulled the ice cream lever-liquid came pouring out. It was not like this 2/3 years ago. Extremely disappointing.

We went after buying a deal voucher & thought we would give it a go because my partner likes this kind of thing.
Cleanliness was VERY poor (especially toilets & hand basins which appeared not to have been cleaned in a LONG time, seriously filthy – which ended my meal for the night because id hate to see what was lurking behind closed doors if this was how the areas the customers could see were kept!)
I have worked in restaurants many years ago & know when meat doesn’t look right & they definitely had old-looking meat out which I did not touch. I barely ate. It’s quite disappointing.
When we walked in we were greeted by a nice guy who seated us but never offered drinks or anything & if you are one of those people who enjoy a jug of water on your table you will need to go get it yourself. Also no ice in drinks??
Overall it really needs to be sorted out. Service & hygiene are important. Also in the pictures it shows oysters (when available) – I wonder how often these are “available”. Hmmmmm?
I really hate giving such a poor rating but it really wasn’t up to scratch. The only thing I enjoyed was the fried rice.
I wonder if the owner even cares about these reviews???
If things were sorted the place would have potential but until then the Health Department would have a field day there!

This was the worst dining experience ever.
Low quality and a small selection of food, all the hot plates were almost empty, with 2 hours of dining to go, they weren’t making anymore.
An owner who believes the customer is always right until you’ve paid, then he will get pushy and aggressive and chuck in the odd swear word too when you query the lack of selection.
Suggestion – if you are after a place to eat.. venture south on Vic Street.
all the best with your imminent closure.

BBQ Buffet.
Asian style. Arrived at 7pm. A few people eating.
The salad bar had several dishes in it – all mayonnaise style dishes, surimi and mayonnaise, curried egg and mayonnaise, shrimp in mayonnaise and potato salad in – you guessed it mayonnaise. And of course coleslaw. But the platters were almost empty, the shrimp was replenished at 7.40hours but everything else remained depleted. The sushi section had four pieces on it and again was only replenished at 7.40. Despite 12 people entering the place. Hot section of Chinese style dishes but again not restocked we were left with the scrappings on the bottom. The range of food was good, also included fries and wedges. The idea of picking your food and having it BBQ’d whilst you wait is novel but it isnt for me, there was a slight queue and I was put off by the starters that I wasn’t game enough to try the BBQ and wait and wait. Don’t know how they would manage if the restaurant was packed.
Desserts – chocolate slab cake cut into cubes, along with a jellied rice milk pudding purple in colour which was great and again a fruit salad next to the salads of mayonnaise but three quarters empty. We shared a pancake made at the BBQ after seeing someone else had one – wouldn’t have known it was available.
Decor was reasonable. Service was a bit lacking, no noticeable greeting point – had to walk half way through to the bar – despite standing in the door for a couple of minutes. We sat at the table and was then told we can help ourselves – no explanation about what was available. No one asked how the meal was or if we wanted more drinks. Seems to be a theme in Hamilton…. The initial five minutes of us entering – you lost me. Loved the pancake at the end.
There is an entry on this site under Genghis khan with the same address….name change does not help
