Went last week for drinks and Bar snacks.the Pizza was great.Service very attentive.Scenery superb.a great way to enjoy an evening drink and watch the sun go down.will go back.

Very expensive, reasonable service, food delicious but very small servings, overall not as memorable as I expected.

Dined here on 22nd Jan. Had a great meal ( althou it would need to be at those prices). Afterwards we ordered two decaf coffees which as they got delivered to the table the maitre d’ rushed over to explain one wasn’t decaf. We queried how she knew which one wasn’t but she assured us she could tell the difference. Unfortunately she couldn’t and I was still wide awake at 3am!! Sent a follow up e-mail directly to the Hilton website but no response. Service very average

We wanted to celebrate our wedding anniversary by going somewhere which advertised themselves as “fine dining”. On that basis we selected Bistro Lago and totally regret our decision.
We arrived early (10 mins before our booking of 8:30) and were greeted with a surly maitre d who didn’t really care. She showed us to the bar and left us to order our drinks. The music was hediously loud and totally inappropriate for “fine dining’ or a romantic evening experience. While we were approached once for extra drinks we were kept waiting until nearly 8:45 when we were approached again and asked for more drinks. The maitre d had odviously forgotten about us (easily done as we were the only ones in the bar!!!). We asked about our table and were finally shown to a window table for two. My wife was cold sitting next to the window so moved to the other side of our table. Incidentally, the outside temperature was -1C when we left. We regret not leaving earlier but decided to stay in the hope that the evening would get better. It didn’t.
While the food was good the rest of our dining experience was a disaster and not worth recommending to anyone. In fact we will most likely make a point of letting all our freinds and work colleagues know how awful it was.

Best restaurant I have been to in Taupo. Wonderful service! The food was beautiful and creative with a great range of flavours. We were well looked after and the atmosphere was warmly inviting. My partner and I stayed to chat well after our desserts were cleared without any pressure from the staff. A wonderful dining experience I can’t wait to go back!

Lovely setting and service. The different flavours dancing off your tongue where just amazing. The 4 of us had to share 1 desert as we were all full and that was to die for. All round it was good value and lovely experience. We will be dining there again without a doubt.

We have dined at Bistro Lago 3 times now, it has become our favourite place to dine. Each time we go we think that it can never be as good as the last time, and it always is we have not been disappointed. The food is tasty, well presented, good value when every mouthful is a treat. The waiting staff are excellent, knowledgeable about what is on the menu, helpful and attentive. Great wine list to match the excellent food, it also has a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant.Can’t wait for the next time that we can stay on Taupo so we can once again dine at Bistro Lago.

I went there again.. It was a nightmare. I have dined at Hilton Auckland. I loved it but this was a slap on the face. Hope someone can sort this out. No one gives a **** about the guests or clients. This Restaurant should not be at Hilton…..

My wife and I dined at Bistro Lago and we enjoyed absolutley every facet of the dining experience. The service was impeccable, the food delicious and the food was beautifully presented.

We have returned on two occasions and each time the standards have been exceptional. We eat out a lot and have exceptionally high expectations. Bistro Lago is one of the few restaurants that has ever exceeded our expectations.
