Five or six years ago The Black Olive used to be one of our local favourites.

This is a great family eatery. Nice pizza, hugely extensive non-pizza menu. Fun and friendly venue … and the pricing used to be reasonable.

Nothing much has changed except the cost has quietly crept up and up. It really isn’t the affordable little family evening anymore.

It must be hard to turn a profit in this business in a small provincial town like Kerikeri so I can’t blame them for sneaking the price up a bit, but our last meal for two adults (plus one toddler) cost a bomb. Be careful to check just how much that glass of tap Stella is costing you !

Anyway – don’t be put off, the food is really pretty good, but order wisely.

We ordered the chicken and the veal. Both were cooked beautifully! The chicken salad was absolutely divine as with the veal. The service was amazing and friendly. Loved the atmosphere. Would definitely return with my family. A+.

Food fresh and service a delight. I had the Black Olive pizza and the Black forest dessert. The pizza was fresh and tasty, the dessert a little dry. Seating a little awkward, it was hard to get around the table arrangements. Otherwise, good.

Exceptional food and service. Will definitely recommend as a place to visit. I will be back. Thank you for the awesome visit black olive!

I have regularly ordered pizza to take out and have very high praise for staff at Olive who are always very friendly and helpful..On the one occasion so far that I have eaten in the restaurant ,myself and 2 others were very impressed with both service and food. We highly recommend Olive.

We as a family with 2 grandchildren included, always love everything about our evenings eating out at the Black Olive.Thank you.

As a frequent customer at the Black Olive I have always had a very enjoyable experience, the staff are always pleasent, food wonderful & atmosphere great. It is a shame to let a one off disappointing experience make you never want to return to such a fabulous venue.

mmmm…… I normally love coming here as I love their pizza…. but on this particular night I had booked in for a party of around 7 people. It was for a 11 year olds party and I had around 3 children attending. We booked early at 6pm so we would be able to leave early. The waitress was unbelieveably rude, actually the rudest waitress I had ever encountered. She looked at us with disdain as we were seated…. when it was time to order she was abrupt to everyone in the party and then presided to drink red wine behind the bar in full view of all who were in the restaurant.
Our drink orders were then wrong and so were the pizza’s we ordered. No apology given either. As I work in the industry myself, I know exactly how it is but her behavior was unacceptable and we could not wait to get out of there. We have not and will not be back which is a shame because up till then I adored this place.

The satff are happy to meet you.The food is amazing. Well head back very soon.

The food was fantastic, we had a group of nine and we ordered from both the pizza and house menus. The service was good, ambiance good, food wonderful. The only fault was with the drinks, the service was especially slow with the cocktails, but they did taste great. An enjoyable evening was had by all and all would happily return again.
