We contacted Kay via messaging as soon as we read this review and offered our sincere apologies. We explained why we appeared rushed – we were preparing to cater a wedding that day on the premises and weren’t actually open when they came in but accommodated them out of politeness. The closed sign had inadvertently been turned around. The issue of the meal has been dealt with – we have offered for Kay to come back for dinner/lunch at our expense as an apology for her bad experience.
Kay’s criticism on the day was acknowledged, contrary to her statement above. The owner aplogised and said he would talk to the chef about it. In hindsight, he should not have charged Kay for her meal. Having said that, all that was left on the plate was a little of the mash! We note that no comment was made about her colleague who was very happy with his meal. Kay is correct when she says that the basil pesto oil should be “drizzled” around the plate, not over the mash and this, together with the overcooked bacon & lambs fry, has been brought to the attention of our chef. We believe that we have done everything we can to put this right.
