We went on Saturday night, the other 2 restaurants we were recommended were booked out, but we found Blonde, at the end of the night we were very happy with our choice. Welcoming service, excellent food. The steak was the best ever had in a restaurant, the fish was delicious and in a lovely sauce. The wine, our first choice was not available, we were offered samples of others before we made a good choice on another one – something you don’t normally get in other places. Highly recommend, will go back when we next visit, would love to try the vension!

Love Blonde Restaurant.
Food always delicious!
Well presented & beautifully cooked!
Great place for lunch/dinner or just a quick coffee & cake!
We go so often I think we may have to make a table just for us!

These were the best meals my husband and I can remember having! My husband had the venison and I had the steak and both were so tender you could carve them with a butter knife. We were very impressed with everything. The venue and lighting create a lovely atmosphere, the service was excellent and the vibe was warm, relaxed and great for a lovely night out together. Highly recommended.

We were in Whitianga for Easter weekend and decided to make a booking at Blonde for lunch for our group of 6. We arrived on time and were seated by a friendly waitress. We had only 2 menus between us (granted, they had probably set the table with 6 and they were swiped by other diners but this should be checked when you are seated). When the waitress returned after 10 minutes we order our drinks and mains and the drinks took 15 minutes to come. The mains arrived after 30 minutes and we were shocked to see masterfood squeeze sauce sachets on the plates – I thought they only supplied those for your chips at truck stops?!? The meals were otherwise nicely presented and were good value for money. When the owner asked how our meals were I commented that I did not like the sauce sachets (since the whole table had commented negatively on them I thought it would be good feedback) and she just didn’t want to know and tried to brush it off by saying ‘Yeah they can be abit difficult to use, I squirted myself in the eye with them the other day’ and then she walked off. I was surprised both by her lack of interest and also the fact they would serve the sachets knowing they can be cumbersome to use. When another waitress came to clear the table I commented again about the sachets and said I had been previously brushed off and she politely listened, acknowledged the issue, gave their reasoning for using them, advised she would pass the message on and thanked me for the feedback – that’s exactly how you handle a comment from a customer. The reason they use the sachets is that they found they were running out of ramekins at lunchtime so switched to sachets – how about just purchasing more. Would they serve wine in a plastic cup because they ran out of wine glasses? We decided not to stick around for any further drinks or desserts and went elsewhere for these. As we exited the owner rudely cut across in front of me and did not acknowledge us, thank us or farewell us. The owner has guaranteed there will be no return visit from us.

Stayed in whitianga over the wknd, and it was very busy. we were turned away from 2 restaurants becuase they were so busy. tried blonde, and we were told we would have a wait of 20mintues before they could take our order. huge thanku to the staff, they were amzing. kept us well hydrated while we waited and the food was delicous.
big thanku for seating us, and being so friendly when other eateries had been so stressed.
-also, awesome coffee for a reasturant, best i’ve had in a long time. and the cocktails were very yum. cheers guys, will be back again

After travelling down to the Coromandel for the weekend to stay with friends, hubby & I decided to check out Blonde. Our friends weren’t very keen as they had had a bad experience, but we wanted to eat on the waterfront so off we toddled.
Well! What a pleasant surprise!
The food was exceptional- fish of the day and pork, was amazing. The restaurant was quite busy, but the staff were lovely.
The only mishap was with our drinks order- they ran out of the wine we were drinking. Our waitress fetched her manager, who was very bubbly and took the time to talk us through the wine list, helping us pick out a suitable replacement. It was refreshing to see that although she was clearly busy, she took the time to attend to us and appeared so relaxed.
Would defiantly recommend- and will be going back. 5*

I have previously been to this restaurant in january and was really disapointed by the service but the food was great and that made me go back to blonde this week knowing i would get amaizing food. I dined on wednesday the 2nd of febuary and was suprised when i was told my option for fish of the day was my favourite, tuna. Although my fish came out overcooked the first time the waitress took my dish back and within minutes my new dish was ready, outstanding to the chef the second time it came out perfect and was possibly the best tuna i have eaten! expecting a wait as usual when you send back a dish it was amaizing to see how fast and perfect my meal was! well done again to the chefs and to the waitress who handled the situation really well.

What an utter disappointment.
Our one night away from the kids over the holiday break..wasted!!
Although I booked we weren’t approached until 10 minutes after being seated. The manager on the night appeared stressed and out of her depth.
When we finally hailed a waitress back to order our food we were told that three of the main menu items were unavailable. From memory this left about four options.
Fifty minutes after ordering I had to go looking for a waitress again. There was no real apology or explanation.
My husbands’ choice of gnocchi was tasteless and looked like an instant meal from the supermarket. My choice of calamari was actually quite tasty, but came as an entree size even though I had ordered it as a main.
We left as soon as we’d finished our mains, not wanting to waste any more time or money. If you are looking for a pleasurable dining experience in Whitianga.. I suggest you look elsewhere.

Over the long weekend my wife of one year enjoyed our anniversary by staying over in Whitianga and experiencing “Blonde” for the first time.
The dinner was of excellent originality and quality, the service relaxed and well timed.
The level of comfort was up market without being stiff. The loin a lamb done perfectly with asparagus and my wife’s rib eye steak near perfect.
Desserts of Kaput ice cream and profiteroles was Divine.
We went back on Monday for brunch and all though very busy being Labour day we were looked after.
Will certainly be going back when next in area.
