My partner and I had the absolute pleasure of dining at this restaurant on Saturday the 5th of May. We were part of a larger group celebrating his daughters 21st, and we could not have wished for a better place to do that!
The first positive was the venue itself – what a superb setting and location. The area they had arranged for us was set perfectly with fairy lights and tealights on the tables creating a warm, inviting atmosphere.
To add to this each member of staff we dealt with was professional without being standoffish. Some of us actually felt we were laughing and chatting with old acquaintances!
Then came the food – WOW!! We had a set menu with a choice of either chicken, fish or steak. At our table we tasted some of each meal and would’ve happily had a sample plate of each as it was hard to say which was the best.
I can honestly say we could not find fault with ANY part of the entire experience and would recommend this restaurant without hesitation!!

We recently spent the weekend in Napier and went out to dinner at Boardwalk Beach Restaurant & Bar on the Saturday night. The food was wonderful and service great. Good location and easy to find. The waitress who looked after us was just lovely, in fact all the staff were friendly. Meal was good value for money. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

I see some low-star ratings in the past for this restaurant, but when I went with another couple with a 4yo boy it simply couldn’t have been a better dining out.
The generously portioned entrees were all so very yummy (best pork ribs I’ve ever tasted, great calamari, chips, beautiful sauce on the prawn&chorizo skewers, bite-sized pork-belly yum yum)
Then the fish (blue nose) main dish was cooked to perfection!!
So fresh ingredients and service met a high standard – this pl is more than what you’d normally expect out of a local city restaurant. Plus it’s right on the waterfront w a charming holiday-house feel interior. This is my favourite restaurant in Napier city so far.

Taking kids out is always a challenge and I have to say the Boardwalk certainly is doing a great job in this area. We went for lunch as a group of eight and the kids meals and goody bags were awesome. Our meals were all delicious. A great spot – well done.

a pleasant night it was dinning out at boardwalk, loved the meals cooked to perfection!!! i can not remember the last time i went out for dinner coming out satisfied, i enjoyed everything about boardwalk the service the meals and just the overall experience, i love going out for dinner now i have a favourite restaurant to become a regular at! top marks to the chef that cooked our meals

I have never had such a terrible experience.
It took about ten minutes to be served and when we finally were it was by a flustered waitress who made me feel as though i was a burden.
Once we ordered we waited and waited and waited, when asking where our drinks were they told us they had forgotten them.
When our meals came out after about 45minutes they were cold! And the big breakfast was served with cold white bread!!!! I have never wasted so much money on such a foul meal.

I was promised a free dining experience as a mystery shopper after this…this was about 6 months ago and the owner has never followed up on her offer. Not happy!!!

I was with a group of people celebrating a birthday.

It was a fixed price meal. I ordered the scotch fillet.

The staff were friendly, efficient and well trained.

The kitchen my order and I was served last.
I watched the other steaks being served and they looked fabulous. When mine came it was half the size of the others and extremely thin. Obviously a left over.The mud cake which followed was just a chocolate muffin, very dry.

I have been to the Boardwalk before and purchased an excellent meal. Perhaps the chef has changed.

Although I only paid $30 for my meal (and $40 for the wine) I went away hungry.
