How to say?
This is just BAD! I went there in the afternoon to have a lunch, coffee and pastries. It was so disappointed for me as I am french. The service is poor (people are not smiling) and the food taste like NOTHING good. I had a veg pie and it was disgusting.
The pastries were average, nothing special. And the baguette sorry again but bad tasting. This not the bread I know from France for sure.
The coffee was ok though.
One advice if you really want to taste something good about french food go somewhere else or just go to France.

Has turned bad over the last few years. Started off with a bang, great coffee and pastries
But their pastries have turned into mainstream, run of the mill crap. And their coffee has gone downhill too

OLGA! The manager at the Thorndon Bakery is so rude and she does not have any respect of anyone, her attitude was so bad… I do not want to go there again, and I think we all should boycott the bakery!!

Unfriendly staff and poor service. My husband and I went to Bordeaux to order a birthday cake for my mother-in-law on Saturday 10 September 2011. The staff was cold and impolite. We picked up our order the next day, and it turned out to be an old cake that had been sitting in the cabinet for at least 2 days, with cream turned hard and cake dried Up.

I was in the mood for pies, and I had the vegetarian one which was a very big disappointment. What it consisted of was burnt & dried up pieces of vegetables (on the top side) with very bland tasting vege fillings on the inside. I actually had to add salt to eat it as I felt I had paid so much money for this and I felt bad to waste food. It is edible but that pie needs a complete re-work.
Their other rolls/sandwiches tasted OK, nothing really out of the ordinary. The prices for them are way too expensive and I couldn’t really see the value of what I was paying for. I don’t mind paying more for something really good but I felt I was cheated out of my money.
At least the coffee was something I enjoyed but otherwise they need to teach the staff to smile more.

Unfortunately there is not much choice on Thorndon Quay and guess this is why Bordeaux is still open. The food is overpriced and staff are never friendly. The food is pretty good though but overall I would avoid unless you are stuck working close to here and have no other option.

Needs a good freshening up. Service is okay, good pastry selection, coffee good.
Lacks a vibe.
Has a toy box and clean toilets. Loathe paying for parking to have coffee though.

Bordeaux has had its ups and downs over the years. This was always our ‘treat’ cafe, as the prices are higher than other cafes in the area but usually reflected the high quality of food. The improved floor-to-ceiling windows make the upstairs dining area much more open and light. The food counter seems to have been ‘tidied up’, too. As usual, the sour dough was in top form and my friend enjoyed her pumpkin soup for lunch. Our service today was great; I hope the food and overall dining experience at Bordeaux manages to regain its ‘top quality’ reputation and remain consistently high.
