Awful awful awful. Packet seafood that was semicooked. Ignored when we entered despite there being no one else in the restaurant. Asked for coffee with soy milk, watched the waitress get the milk FROM THE SHELF, crusty bits around the opening. Partner’s food was just mush. Could hardly eat mine, too worried about hygiene practices. Will never return.

Went to Breakers Wanganui on Mothers Day evening, having booked our table for 6 adults and a 2 & 3 year old. The place advertises that it is a family rest. The bar staff knew nothing about their selection of wines, (even asked me if a Merlot was a red or white!) we waited an hour for our basic meals to be delivered (salad was a whole lettuce leaf, with some pepper chopped into it), the grilled chicken was dry,the sauce on the chicken was not the same as advertised or as served in other Breaker Rest, the Roast of the Day was luke warm and when I complained to the owner, we got a story about staff not turning up! Not our problem! Should have been told when we arrived that there would be a 1 hour delay for the food (it was busy but not exceptionally so)then we could have taken the two hungry children elsewhere. The owner did offer a complimentary dessert to one of the guests at our table, but what he ordered was not available so he had the “dessert of the day”. Overall, we would never return and certainly not advise people to dine there. The staff aren’t trained properly ( a management problem, not the staff’s fault) and the food was average or below. Certainly not to the standard of other Breakers Restaurant around the country.
