I love this cafe, I haven’t yet tried the blackboard menu but the cabinet food is amazing such a great variety, i mainly get the steak roll, my favorite! The staff are not very friendly and don’t make you feel very welcome however it won’t keep me from visiting again.

Easily my favourite cafe in Wellington. Especially great for brunch! I love the selection and the food is delicious! Great coffee too. I adore the staff – they’re all so happy and friendly. Love it!

I went here for breakfast this morning with a friend. Our experience started out ok. I ordered mushroom eggs benedict and she ordered scrambled eggs with salmon. On receiving my benedict we realised it had no hollandaise on it. I asked where it was, and was told that some would be brought to be in a side dish. Hers arrived and the salmon piece was about 4cmx2cm, for an extra $7!! I waited and waited for my hollandaise to arrive (it never did). Although this was pointless as my eggs were so undercooked I didn’t eat it anyway. I would never eat here again.
Also my partners breakfast came with a banana skin end (sticker on) wedged firmly in between his fried eggs! My friends partner ordered a smoothie which arrived when his breakfast was almost done!

After standing back and perusing the counter food displayed for about a minute I approached the counter. The staff member right behind the counter looked up at me from her kneeling position and shouted out to another staff member in the kitchen area to come out and serve. When she didn’t head over right away, the staff member again shouted out to the other staff member who grumpily responded with a “yeah, I’m coming” before turning to me unenthusiastically. From these auspicious beginnings, it only got worse. I was distracted by the annoyance on her face and the ugly lip piercing and was interrupted in a very rude manner while ordering to check if I wanted my bacon pinwheel heated.

The coffee was the worst I have ever tasted – the burnt taste overtook the entire cup so much I could barely tell it was coffee. The bacon pinwheel was a little better, but to be honest, I was expecting a hot toasted pinwheel and instead, got a lukewarm, obviously microwaved lunch. Both the coffee and pinwheel were almost slammed down on the table when bought over – the coffee so much so that it’s substandard foam slopped over the sides and onto the handle making it almost impossible to drink without covering my hands with the butchered drink – The only positive thing was that this wasn’t an issue as I left behind an almost full cup. Will never return and would not recommend.

Their bread is delicious.
And I must say, I do not like french toast at all, but I had a bite of my friends at this place, it is AMAZING!
This place is always busy, but the service is really fast regardless.
However, if you order coffee, make sure you ask for it in a mug. If you dont, they will give you the tiniest of tiny cups. The mug is the same price as the tiny cups, kind of confusing I think.

Down the road from work so this is one of my haunts. Quieter than L’affare, much quieter but can still get fairly busy.

Good selection of food, the bakery selection is great too! Something for everyone. Particularly really good coffee!

Only gripes are that they have recently shoved more tables into the same space so its now not very practical walking around there or sitting there as others try to walk around you. Smokers outside when the big bay windows are open can also be an issue if youre eating. But apart from that, well recommended.

Possibly the best coffee and food of its type in Wellington! A superb counter selection and the brunch menu goes on and on. A favourite of mine.
