Went to this restaurant a few weeks back, with 3 other people. The welcome, service and food were first class. The only complaint I have (and this is distressingly common), is that after the first drink, no one bothered to ask if we would like another. Extra drinks are easy “add on” sales. It didn’t prevent us from having another drink, but why should the customer have to ask?

Friends and I have dined at Buccleugh’s on High on more than one occasion; each time being a most pleasant experience. The staff have provided friendly and helpful service, and always with a smile, sometimes hard to find on the Coast! The meals are delicious, especially the venison and the chicken! I’ve not left here hungry, and find the meals are well priced for the size and quality – excellent! I’ll be back. Have heard there is a new menu coming along shortly – really looking forward to that!

Whenever I visit Greymouth I make a point of dining at Buccleugh’s, it has a lovely atmosphere & the staff are always friendly & helpful. The menu has been changed several times over the times I have visited & I have always enjoyed the selection. My food has always been cooked to perfection & comes out well presented. I’m happy to recommend Buccleugh’s to all my friends.

This was a highlight a year ago but the chef and the head waiter have been changed and what a difference.
I have to agree with the previous reviews that this is not a place I will return to at present.

My family and I ate here a few weeks back and safe to say, we won’t be back.
Service was shocking, meals over priced and tasteless.
I had a scallop and dill risotto and it was just awful! The scallops were like rubber and the risotto (if you could call it that)was dry.
They had run out of several dishes unfortunately, which I could understand had we not booked, but they knew well in advance we were coming, therefore should have been more prepped.
Nobody bothered keeping our drinks topped up so we had to keep going through to the bar to get them.
Very dissapointed for the price we paid. Staff need to be trained properly.

Ordered seafood trio which consisted of a half fillet of cod, 4 scallops and 4 prawns. They were over battered to floury. No crispy coating at all. No seasoning and very tasteless. Service was average, key indicator being not one staff member asking how our meal was.

one entree, 2 mains, 2 glasses of wine, 2 beers, 1 coffee = $113. Very expensive for the quality provided.
