4th visit but first time for dinner.

Wine and tapas have always been brilliant so we decided to do dinner..

exceptional, food, wine, service!
Service was professional but casual/relaxed and welcoming.

The same bottle of wine in the tasting area was exactly double the price in the restaurant… Go figure that one out.

Another spectacular winery with an arty view. We didn’t order off the menu as had just been to Mudbrick, instead we sat outside and enjoyed a wine and soaked up the views. I’ll be back for a meal as the menu looked tantalisingly yummy.

There is only one way to really enjoy Cable Bay and that is by helicopter landing on the lawn. As the packages contain the meal and return transfers they are reasonable.

The view back to Auckland over the harbor matches the wine and food. It is the perfect location to take friends from out of town.

Take a tour of the downstairs dining room and cellar.

The service never disappoints.

The view alone melts away all feelings of stress, a slice of island life heaven, all wrapped up in a lovely designed restaurant. Someone clearly has both ambition, love and money and the customer benefits from it all.

Now to the food, fresh fish was snapper, simple and beautiful, duck which is something I almost always order when its on the menu was as good as nearly all in Auckland city except perhaps the French Cafe who compliment it with mandarin. Cant quite remember what the young ones had but they liked it and wanted to go explore the the helicopter pad.

Desserts were shared and deliciously consumed by everyone at the table.

This is a serious restaurant making a name for itself, highly recommended and the best we have enjoyed on Waiheke to date!

What can I say, Cable Bay is a benchmark for others to follow. It has everything you expect from a top restaurant without the snobbery.

Gorgonzola Mousse on Toasted Brioche with Cherry Confiture and Walnuts…mmmmmmmmm still makes my mouth water to think of it. Don’t miss this treat of a restaurant or the fabulous sunset looking back towards mainland Auckland. (Waiheke was a real highlight of our 6 weeks in NZ.)
