good service the day we dropped in. had attentive staff and didn’t have to wait too long for the food to come out. ok priced.

I have being going to Cafe 162 with my children since it opened and always find the staff extremely helpful and friendly. The food is always good and great value for money.

As a new resident in Karori, my family and I were on the hunt for a ‘local’ spot to grab a bite and headed into Cafe 162. On arrival, we were greeted by a smiley young lady who immediately seated us with menus. Our kids got their own kids menus with activities on the back and their own box of coloured pencils to keep. Our coffees came out in a reasonable amount of time, and were spot on. I had the vege quesadilla which I thoroughly enjoyed as it was tasty and there was just the right amount on the plate. My husband had the corn and bacon fritters which he really enjoyed, and our kids were happy with their spare ribs and chicken nuggets.
All in all, we had a great experience and the staff were really good with our kids. I’m looking forward to going back on a Wednesday night when they offer two main meals for $25!

I stopped going to Cafe 162 some time ago. While the meals were average, the service left a lot to be desired. The last time I went, my daughter and I were abandoned after our dessert was served. No-one ever came to ask if we wanted coffee, although a lot of table cleaning was going on, making it pretty clear that the staff hoped we’d go, despite the fact it was only around 9.30. I hope that in the meantime the service has improved, but I’m not willing to give this restaurant another chance, after too many disappointing visits.

My meal was small, overpriced and dissapointing. Wait staff were unfriendly and and reluctant to serve us. Would not recommend.

Would not recommend the filo vegetable parcel. What normally would cost you about $9 in an inner city cafe will set you back just over $21 here. Overpriced and a pitiful quantity. Some confidence in a the staff wouldn’t go amiss either. What more can you expect from a ‘Local Point’.
