10 Reviews for Cafe Divine
came just after 5 o’clock and of course was ‘welcomed’ with “take aways only” – OK, understandable. after waiting for 30 seconds my large flat white was ready and boy oh boy it was not good, first of all it was impossible to hold the take away cup because the coffee was SO HOT, of course the double lid on the coffee didn’t stop it from eventually spilling all over me, not first time i am there but there was not a single time that i have enjoyed.

very disappointed. ordered fish and chips and gluten free bacon and egg pie as 1 of us was gluten intolerant.
fish was not cooked for starters then eggs Benedict came out instead of of pie and the waitress tried telling us this is what was ordered and did not take it back until we told her he could not eat it, returned them both then fish came out very chewy and a bacon and egg pie, waitress was specifically asked if it was gluten free and replied yes, half way through the pie that didn’t look gluten free at all we asked again if it was gluten free and it wasn’t, eventually we got the correct pie but by that stage it was too late, the gluten free pies were eaten but was a waste of time as it all came back up 15mins later.
We were out with friends from out of town and because of the pie incident we had to go home because he was sick.
This ruined the rest of our visit.
would highly recommend not to dine here

As an exercise for our management retreat, eight of us split into groups of two and reviewed four cafes in Napier.
We went to Divine, and after reading earlier reviews, I am sure Divine have taken positive action.
On arrival, the young lady on the counter was good, but could have improved her smile.
Our order arrived quickly, and the food was excellent. My associate gave a 10/10 for his, and I give a 9.75/10. The pumpkin in the roast vege salad was slightly underdone.
The coffees were delivered by the friendly barista in proper time, and were excellent as well as being correct. We liked his hat too!
The young Irish lady on the floor was efficient, fast, and always moving around the cafe doing her job well. She asked us how our meal was, and said thank you, and good bye.
Sadly the other groups suffered poor service, mixed up orders, and worse where they went for lunch, so good work Divine.

This was OK. Coffee was great but mocha was disappointing – we think I got both shots of coffee in the flat white??
Pancakes good but not outstanding
Full breakfast was 2 hash browns and 2 pieces of bread, nasty fried chipolata sausages etc too much stodge and not very good quality ingredients

We had a variety of breakfast orders and all the food arrived quickly. Spanish omelet was perfect. Muesli was fresh. Coffee was perfect and hot. We were in Napier for three days and had breakfast at 3 different cafes. We found this place to be the best. I think this is the best breakfast I had in a cafe for a very long time. so keep up the great service and the wonderful food. Great place to start the day.

Staff were nice but they should be more careful about advertising themselves as having an extensive range of gluten free. An their teams need to be educated on what gluten free means and the effects it can have on celiac sufferers if a gluten product is served with non gluten.
e.g. ordered a gluten free chicken asparagus stack served with a salad with a mayonnaise which had gluten in it. The stack was mushy. Waited half an hour for our meal served the wrong cup of tea.
Overall not promising for celiac sufferers

Wow. What a huge disappointment! I don’t want to write too much because I’ll only make myself angry thinking about the half hour we wasted in ‘Divine’ – a word it really shouldn’t use to describe itself (actually even Cafe is pushing it).
We went in for Brunch, 3 meals were ordered. 2 came old cold, and the eggs were not cooked, the whites horribly runny and wobbling all over the one piece of garlic bread (with poached eggs??) I was surprised to get (the meal said toast). They came back slightly warmer, even worse presented than they were the first time, not even garnish, just poached eggs on a slice of garlic bread.
I asked our (terrible) waitress who did the cooking, she said she usually does but someone else was doing it today, and No, they are not a chef.
Then a blonde lady in a red coat breezes in, pats my Mum on the back, says ‘how are you love’ and then walks off before waiting to hear a reply. It was bizarre. And no apologies from anyone on the state of the food

The coffee was excellent – we called there Sunday 20th January. The best Cappuccino I had had in a long time. Top service and good PR by the staff.
Next time we visit Napier we shall call again.
