I’ve never seen such bad service. It was my partners birthday and we decided we would all go for a drive out there and have lunch. Firstly, We were not greeted by staff when we entered, Second: My partner ordered a iced chocolate and his father ordered a flat white coffee. A staff member(Who I thought looked no older than 10) Came to our table with an orange juice and an iced coffee.. Completely wrong. My partners sister requested for her meal to be without the cranberry and for normal cheese to be added. When she received her meal this had not been done. Unhappy with this she once again took it up to correct staff, they apologised and this was fine.. Until they brought it back to her and STILL had not done what she requested! Me and my partner ordered nachoes, which contained the poorest amount of mince. I felt our meals were not worth the cost of what had been payed for. I could maybe understand this poor service if they were flat out busy, but there was only a few other people in the cafe, therefore no excuse. I wont be back ashhurst.I take my food seriously.

I was surprised I know all well I thought I did good eating places from Wanganui to Napier down to Pahiatua across to Levin the cafe for is awesome, the place was clean, furniture suited the environment, staff were very cheerful, friendly & helpful which reflects on the customers, the meal was hot, fresh, tasty, and plentiful, the cost was worth the meal I thought I got the best meal deal.
Big ups to the cafe.

I took my family for morning tea and found the staff to be rude and unfriendly when trying to order, they were more interested in talking to each other. The drinks and cakes were excellent. We have been here many times before and it was fine, there must have been a change in ownership.
Will never go back.
Will never go back.
I recently took my elderly parents to Cafe Domain mid week, one in a wheelchair and one with a walking frame! The staff were very friendly and helpful, helping us up the disabled ramp. We ordered hot chocolates and they gave us a small piece of fudge cake as well, all were delicious. The setting and views are beautiful, it’s a really nice place to take my parents when visiting from Wanganui, it beats sitting around in a rest home all afternoon!! I will definitelty be back, and I’ve told my family about it as well, so they have somewhere to go when they visit also. Thanks guys, see you again.

10 of us turned up for a Sunday brunch. 90 minutes after ordering the first meal came out. Only two out of 10 meals were what was ordered( all came out cold in the end)and they didn’t even bother to let one diner know that they couldn’t produce her order as had run out of appropriate ingredient.Very disappointing

A friend and I stopped in to get coffee. As we walked in they asked what we wanted, when we said coffee they said “takeaway”? and looked at each other. They obviously wanted to close up even though it was about 2:50 and websites said they closed at 4. They made no effort to tell us they were closing soon just made us feel real awkward for being there. So we asked for takeaway. Atleast the coffee was good.
My family and I enjoyed a lovely morning tea, outside in the sun enjoying the native bush and birds. Friendly staff, we will definitely be back.

Been here a few times for brunch, and have never been dissapointed..the staff are always friendly and the meals always excellent..great selection on the menu and enjoy the atmosphere and views.
The hot chocolate I had was divine – pity I was waiting fifteen minutes to receive it. With the music of Norah Jones going in the background no less…

Love this place. Beautiful views and will be perfect in summer for a beer and enjoying the outdoors. The breakfasts are especially delicious with the $10 breakfast special with possible add ons a favourite of mine

I was here last a few weekends ago and saw that they have a new chef. The food is absolutely delicious, the service and coffee great and the view has to be seen to be believed. Perfect place to spend my weekend day lazing away in the sun. Would recommend it to anyone and it is worth the drive from Palmerston North

I totally disagree with the previous comment (Sophie’s). Her experience was obviously a one off.
I went to the café, once again, for dinner last night. I had the most amazing service and a top notch meal. It was fantastically friendly, relaxing and enjoyable.
I will tell my friends and family to go there as it was the best meal and outing at a restaurant I have ever had.
Many thanks to the Ashhurst Domain Café!

Thought I would pop in for a little something to takeaway, I was standing at the counter with a staff member right in from to me with her back to me doing some kind of stock take, as well as about 4 other staff in the kitchen. Not one person acknowledged me as I stood there for at least a minute. I know they must have heard me as they have a wooden floor & I was wearing heels. How much effort does it take to look up?
After standing there like a dork I left. I thought about saying something but I didn’t want to disturb their counting.
This place is obviously far to busy counting bottles of wine to bother with annoying customers.
