We took my mum here for Mother’s Day and were extremely disappointed!!! Mum and I had the pancakes, which were like warm glue served with overly done banana and steamed (rather then grilled) bacon – Yuck! My sister ordered the french toast, which arrived to her soggy and drenched in maple syrup along with overly done banana and steamed bacon. I also ordered a side of ‘homemade hashbrowns’, turns out that is just mashed potato made into rounds and cooked briefly on both sides. We basically left complete meals on our plates but were never asked about our meals, although it was pretty obviously we didn’t enjoy the food. All in all, an awful meal and would will never go back.

I went to Cafe Vella recently. The food was fantastic. Absolutely exquisite. The service was awesome, friendly, and appropriate. The timing of wait staff ‘interruptions’ was well planned and the waiter was friendly and entertaining and at the same time discrete. He made our evening special. Definitely going back. Thanks very much.

Absolutely awful. I am NEVER going back.

I had the burger and my friend had the corn fritters. The fritters were not cooked and the salad (which was obviously from a bag) had been dumped in my burger.

Neither of us ate our meals and will not be going back and would recommend everyone to go to somewhere else.

A disappointing and overpriced evening. The mains were delicious, but pricey, service was friendly but inept and the desserts mediocre and way overpriced. I won’t be back.

I had the big breakfast, and was very pleasantly surprised! =) Home-made hash-browns, very herby and very yummy. My partner had the French toast, swimming in maple syrup. Food as it was meant to be…

Actually, we seriously considered driving up from Wellington (where we were staying) just to go to this cafe =)

Brunch – had lambs fry and bacon. Served in a bowl looking like a stew – everything chopped up small, drowned in sweet port gravy, two potato cake things in the bottom – obviously not made with real potato, maybe even bought ones. Very disappointing.

I dined here for a work dinner in May the restaurant was very cute and the food was excellent.
But the staff are thick and rude.
I was over charged for my meal and getting a refund from these people is like pulling blood from a stone.
They were supposed to deposit the funds back into my account over three months ago and have yet to do so.
Every time I ring I get told “yes we are putting that through for you tonight”.
And the last time I rung I was told “can you ring back we are busy”.
I will never eat here again on account of the staff being a bunch of rude thick arrogant imbeciles.

If you like a good steak, highly recommend you try the Scotch on the Bone at Cafe Vella. Absolutely perfect! One of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Also has a nice atmosphere, and service was very good too.

Average, not bad just average.

Superb food and service ! Went there for dinner, best fillet mignon ever had. My dinner companions really enjoyed their selections as well. Remember to leave room for dessert, they are worth it!
