I had tried a Beef Panang (Thai), it was good but if you had never tried the $99.00 Peking Duck, then you missed out on something fantastic. Forget fast foods, the thing you normally associate with “Chinese takeaways” and think “AUTHENTIC”, the preperation takes time but oh so worth it! The three course meal starting with a tofu soup for the first time I found interesting, now my mate finds it absolutely great…the crispy skin of the duck served seperately with pancakes a range of vegetables (I related it to sushi if one could dare) and three dipping sauces, I went for the hottest one…wonderful and after about three pancakes, I was seriously becoming full…the main dish, the duck itself…woah, my mate nearly choked because of a lack of patience. Seriously a dish of interesting tastes…this is the second time for me, worth a “Hundred”…recommend to all who think they know what it tastes like!

Most disgusting meal ever! Food was raw ( even the dumplings were half cooked); appalling food hygiene, owner had a fag on the pavement in full view, noticed his fly was down so fixed it and then came inside to serve our food. As you can imagine no one wanted to eat it – helped by the fact it was inedible – poorly cooked. Worst chinese meal ever seen by us & we have chinese at least 3 x a month. When we complained he pretended nothing was wrong and still charged us for all. Appalling experience for visitors.

Upon arriving in Dunedin (migrating from overseas) this was the first restaurant we chose to eat at.
I was horrified – it was probably the worst dining experience of my life in a Western country, and I have not been back to this place.
The food was tasteless, of poor quality, and the service was slow. Overall cost was exhorbitant.
Even the rice was awful.
Considering that Dunedin has some excellent restaurants, all I can say is, these days we “vote with our dollars”.

Do not go to this restaurant.
This is quite possibly the most unjustifiably expensive restaurant I have ever been too. A portion of white rice, which is hardly enough to satisfy even a single persons requirements costs almost as much as the main dishes themselves. As for the Chinese tea they are practically robbing people by charging per person despite giving you a teapot. We ended up paying more than thirty dollars per person for an average sized meal for 3 without extras such as dessert or entree’s. The menu consists of nothing that looks particularly eye catching and the food only emphasized the impact made by the empty restaurant, the strange old man serving and the unimpressive and unclean look of the restaurant from the main street. The food wasn’t even any better than that which I could have cooked at my Castle street flat!
This restaurant has absolutely nothing going for it. I felt unsatisfied with my meal and furious at the price which I had to pay for it. When I asked the owner about their ridiculous pricing he replied that its ‘how they make their money’ and proceeded to chuckle as if he’d just successfully scammed us. I could not have been more annoyed.
Let this restaurant wallow in its own inevitable demise. There will probably be no body at this restaurant if you go there, and with good reason.
I hope this restaurant goes out of business as fast as possible to make way for more useful and community spirited shops with respectful patronage and pricing.

Let’s be honest, this is proper old-school Chinese dining a la 70s. In fact the proprietors, decor and menu may well have not been refreshed since that time. So if you want fancy-pancy, go elsewhere. However, if you enjoy a bit of character in your surroundings, waiting staff and, yes, food, then give it a go by all means. Food was tasty, freshly prepared with good ingredients for the most part (cheaper meat cuts, I sensed), served promptly, and with good grace and cheer, by our almost incomprehensible host. Only gripe: a little on the dear side for what’s otherwise a distinctly cheap and cheerful experience. Like I say: old school…

A poorly patronized restaurant that mainly has tour bus diners. The unkempt proprietor is the waiter, message-boy and janitor. Food is of low quality and expensive. Service is poor, place has no atmosphere.
A place to stay away from.

Without a doubt the worst place I have ever dined in Dunedin. Took nearly 2 hours for our tiny dim sums to arrive. The place was filled with a tour group eating nice enough looking fish dishes, but these weren’t offered to English speaking guests. The family next to us didn’t get their meal at all. We left without half ours. A terrible place to be!

A great place to go to try out some crazy new Asian dishes that you’ve never tried!
Or a variety of yummy traditional Asian food.
The karaoke just adds to the flavour of the place!
