First off, the Persian waitress is very lovely, kind and very helpful. That was the only positive thing about our experience here.
My friend ordered a lunch, she had eaten half of her meal and then she discovered a dead black spider in her dish! That is very disappointing. The waitress kindly apologized and insisted on replacing the meal but my friend didn’t want anything else because she lost her appetite. Instead she ordered a dip.
The disappointing thing about this was that when we went to pay, the owner made my friend pay for the dip and did not apologize about the dead spider in the dish. The owner should not have even charged my friend for anything because when you stuff up an order that badly you do not charge the customer.
My friend kindly paid for what she owed but seriously guys, I work in a restaurant and when something like that happens we make sure that we do not charge the customer because of the inconvenience.
Owner, please learn some freaking manners.

Have tried their lunch menu and shishas.
Their lunch specials are pretty awesome at around $14 each, with chips as sides.
Their aioli sauce is really nice, I usually order their scotch and have it rare.
The location gives this place an extra star for convenience, however beware any parking around the area will cost you an arm and a leg.
Late at night my friends and I go for beers and shisha, and again it is a good environment for that also.
Have not tried their dinner menu, as it is quite logical it’s not the best place to have dinner. It is more of a bar than a restaurant, so I don’t understand a lot of the negative reviews, which I find a little silly

My friends and I went there last night only to be greeted by a rude waitress who asked us if we were drinking, I said yes because there were a couple who were. When it came to ordering she insisted that we ordered alcoholic drinks when we said that we were all not having alcohol she insisted that we ordered a drink each. Even though we were there for Shisha. She made a big fuss when only some of us ordered alcoholic drinks because apparently she got in trouble by her manager for giving us a table on a busy Friday night, simply because we were not giving them bar sales. Even though half the place was empty…it was 11pm!!
We had a bad experience and would not recommend this place to anybody. We ended up going to the restaurant next door.
To the owner you need to educate your staff to communicate your expectations to the customers before they are seated. Your customer service is disgraceful especially in a country like New Zealand!

One tip: Avoid at all costs (excuse the pun)
There is no correlation when it comes to food and price here. You get a handful of food, which would barely fill anyone up, for a hefty, hiked up price. I’m not sure whether or not they even realise that their portion sizes are ridiculously small, and just go on that fact that eating in the CBD is meant to be fancy, and their food is exquisite, therefore serve their customers with less. This applies to the Shish chicken & many other dishes served here.
Secondly, staffing. The bald Turkish man is an extremely rude waiter, who only caters to his friends and tables with attractive girls, and prioritises them over new and other guests. He quite often gets you to wait, and hands tables to others while you’re still waiting. I have been here for Shisha and drinks numerous times, and quite simply, I will not go back. The rule apparently is ‘Everyone must buy a drink’ when they smoke Shisha, and this is repeated over and over again when ordering to make sure they can squeeze every penny out of you. They are reluctant to serve you and give you tables if you go in big groups, this ‘restaurant’ is only out for your money, the owner is extremely money hungry.
Shisha – I don’t think these guys even bother to clean their pipes. A thorough clean of each pipe ensures that the Tobacco is not harsh for the next person/s who use the pipe. 9 times out of 10, their Shisha comes out and after about 10 minutes, it starts getting harsh and will definitely make you cough when you smoke it. This is because they have not cleaned the ash out of the top part where the tinfoil is, or they have not cleared the old tobacco, but to simply cut costs, they just add more tobacco onto the existing black, burnt out tobacco. The wait on charcoal is extremely long, and by the time it comes out, you would have made your mind up to leave the place.
Overall, the service is poor, unwelcomingMore, the shisha pipes are poorly handled and harsh, food is extremely overpriced and not worth the money. Would not recommend anyone to go here, and anyone who has will know i am taking the words right out of their mouths, right from the minute they approach the waiters for a table. If it were possible, this restaurant would get 0 stars.

This restaurant is by far one of the best in Auckland. Whether it be a catch up with a friend for coffee, lunch or booking an evening meal with friends for a special occasion. The food is fantastic, it’s a place I come back to time and time again as I enjoy the setting of chancery square. The new bar area that has been extended too is great to gather for late evening cocktails before or after dinner. I always enjoy my meals here, they are well presented and taste delicious. The desserts are good value too. Looking forward to my next visit. Charl

Went here very recently and the service and food was excellent. Waiters were friendly, polite, professional and attentive. And the food was lovely! We had lamb and it was sooooo tender! Plenty to eat and the prices were reasonable. I would give them 5 stars but was very surprised that a Turkish restaurant didn’t have Turkish delight for afters! Would certainly go again.

I’m really not sure about the good reviews honestly, saying the service is excellent..because its really really not! I went here last night with a large group for a friend’s birthday dinner. First of all, every staff member I saw was moody. the waitresses were moody during the whole night, don’t think I saw them smile once. the owner didn’t look too welcoming himself…
Second, when the food came out we were all quite shocked with the portion sizes for the ridiculous price. I paid $22 for this tiny bowl of food with some salad. it was nice, but not worth that amount of money. I was left hungry too…
Third, all the the guests who had ordered the shish chicken or the lamb got a cold meal.. A rice portion was even left off one of the shish chickens and it had to be sent back. this was also overpriced. This place should not be recommended for its service or food. We were all quite disappointed and went to Denny’s afterwards. It ended rather awkwardly with the birthday girl apologising to all her guests for the bad food. not really how a birthday dinner should go at all.

Not sure about the negative reviews as my recent experiences with the place have all been outstanding. I went there three times between the 16th and 20th of April and each time the service was excellent, the food was great and the shesha outstanding. The wait staff was attentive as were the managers. I’ll be sure to stop in if I get back to Auckland.

We often go there for shisha, and always spend about at least $40 per person, usually more than 6 people. So for the owner- here is your loss! We will never recommend or come ever again.
The waiter – Turkish I think, is rude and seriously doesn’t give a toss about customers, he has no idea what customer service is, I mean even a “smile” he can’t do. We ordered shisha – it came 40 minutes later- as he forgot to say the flavor we wanted and then after about 30minutes he came back arguing that he wants it back as it is getting busy- SERIOUSLY? We paid about $25 for a shisha which I might add doesn’t even have enough tobacco for it to burn fast and makes you cough until he comes and fixes – which he didn’t and seemed hassled every time we asked for the coal to be changed. Given my background in making shisha – I opened the foil and saw a tiny bit of tobacco burnt – this to me looks like they used a second hand tobacco and added a drop of one to save costs. And for the coal which is free – He just grabbed one off another table’s shisha and put it on ours. Disgusting! He used the same pipe to test it instead of taking off the plastic hygienic top, and left his bad breath on it; after figuring out for himself it doesn’t work, he just walked off. To this point we were furious- as he attended the other table which had all his friends or girls sitting on it, and totally ignored us. We decided to settle our bill…. and leave that place with a bad experience and bad taste.
There are many other places that do shisha – (fort street, high street, Turkish cafe in Dominion road) who have people who are nice, happy to serve and give you what you paid for.
I can’t imagine this place getting busier with that kind of attitude- Auckland is small so this bitter taste spreads faster- and the so called “authentic Turkish” service and food is seriously misleading.
I would not spend a cent there again, and rather givMoree that money to people who deserve.

This place sucks!!!!
Worst part, the set of rules are different for middle eastern people and the rest. The manager or wait staff who ever it was, is an absolute example of s**t customer service.
We arrived at this place and asked for Sheesha. We were asked for ID’s which we showed and ordered for 2 drinks and sheesha. After 5 min, he returns and tells us the manager has asked each one of us to order a drink and nibbles in order to get Sheesha. Are you effing kidding me??? At the same time I saw some Arab students walk in and order just Sheesha which was served immediately.
I love middle eastern food but at this place, service is just s**t.
You don’t wanna go here unless you want to be treated bad. The min I could rate this is 1 star, doesn’t even deserve that.

Alright I absolutely hate this place!! Although every time I go… it’s with friends and Arabs who love the place… the service is s**t… I’m sorry but it is… the manager there thinks he is all that… but he’s not…
It was my friends 21st and we wanted a table so we asked the nice gentleman if we could have a table of like 10 or 15 people.. of course it was OK so he sat us at two different tables. We were alright with it for a while… then I asked him if we could refrigerate the cake and when it was time we could have the cake.. So I handed it to him inside the box expecting it would sit in the fridge and come out on a nice serving plate with a knife…
Cake time came round and we got the cake… still in the box… he placed it on the table with a knife on top… expecting us to open it and cut it and serve it… (he didn’t even sing happy birthday) was pretty shit service if you ask me… then later before we left he asked us to pay 10 dollars for that cake service… Wtf?
Doesn’t even deserve one star as the food is way over priced… as well as the shesha… sigh

I’ve had a good experience there previously, but this time around, 1 wait staff in particular made the experience particularly unpleasant. The food was reasonable.
However, after 20 minutes of ordering food and asking for water, we were still waiting for water to arrive and it only came after we asked for it for a second time from a different staff member. Also, that 1 aforementioned wait staff first told us to wait on a reserved table then told us to move to a table which could only sit 2 people without blocking the entrance (we had 3), then placed us outside on a cold day. When the restaurant cleared up (before our food was served), we asked to move inside and that wait staff sighed loudly before letting us move in though there were plenty of empty tables by then. What could have been a nice meal was ruined by 1 unpleasant staff.

We discovered this restaurant while out shopping in vulcan lane on the weekend. The lunch was fantastic and great value. Food was fresh and tasty and wait staff were onto it. Its hard to find good upmarket turkish food in Auckland these days so would recommend this as a place for dinner as well with friends.

I love this place. The $15 lunches are delicious and the Tiramisu is divine. The service is always lovely. well done!

Good price – Main $25-30, however meal was average. My friends enjoyed their chicken dishes – shish kebab and black sea chicken. My grilled lamb was quite tough I had to cut into very small pieces to chew. Would have liked the Turkish lavash bread served on the side so it doesn’t get soggy by the time I get to it, underneath my food. Dessert was excellent, I had the chocolate whisky cake. Turkish apple tea was also great & smells divine. Nice atmosphere, the wait staff is a bit hit’n'miss. Felt a bit crowding us at times yet had to ask twice for dessert menu.

Really tasty, great location, choice of inside or outside seating (with big sun umbrellas if the weather’s nice). We went for lunch and chose off the $12 lunch menu, there’s something for everyone from grilled lamb salad with pide to an open chicken sandwich served with fries. Good value and delicious!

Surprised there were no reviews here as my partner and I really enjoy this restaurant and have been several times. The staff is very friendly and laid back. You’ll see the same faces there working whenever you walk by. The food is fantastic and reasonably priced. Their chargrilled meats are very tasty, but their culinary skill does not stop there. Fragrant and perfectly cooked rice. Delicious hummus and tzatziki. The salad is fresh and wonderful with a tasty pomegranate dressing. My favorite dish there is the Anatolian Lamb if you want a recommendation. To finish the meal they actually make some of the best coffee we’ve had in Auckland. They also have a daily $12 lunch menu that has twenty or so choices.
