Love this place. The jerk chicken is nice and spicy.

So happy that we have a jerk chicken place in Wellington!

Always had jerk chicken while I was in London, then complained there was not one in Wellington until a couple of years ago.

Would be nice if fried plantains were on the menu :)

My Partner, Her Mother and I went in for tapa’s and a drink before the final WOW evening while visiting Wellington. 5 Stars for Food and Service. We were totally impressed with the level of service and attention while not too stiff it was excellent. We decided to come back for Breakfast (well brunch really Fri-Sun from 10am) the next morning and the food is Superb. We highly recommend this place. Simply put it is amazing food in a great atmosphere. We would like to see this young couple open one more place in Sydney so we could come more often! Keep up the Great Work. Hank

Had the Jerk Burger with beef and the gingery mango sauce as well as some curly fries and coleslaw ($16).

Quite liked the burger (spicy sauce!), the curly fries were just great and very tasty (probably the best curly fries I have had so far!) and I even had all of the coleslaw (though I am usually not that much of a vegetable-person).

Always keen on going to the Caribbean again :)

I’m a harsh critic sometimes, but let’s talk about the bean soup and the ginger pepper sauce and every last spicy yummy thing in this place…yum! It doesn’t appeal to my boyfriend as much as it does me, but I bought all of the sauces they sell including the jerk chicken and when I cook with them at home, he never complains. Plus, great service guys.

One day I tried their Jerk Chicken Burger with mates during a working lunch and found it very very tasty. The owner told us he lived in Jamaica for several years and has family back on the island. I too have been in Jamaica and told him how tasty the jerk chicken was and how it reminded me of real Caribbean cooking. Great food and perfect level of service for Cuba St. Not too stuffy and very friendly.

UPDATE: Just came back from The Caribbean Bar & Grill for a after dinner drink. We wish we had gone here for our dinner as we had a very unpleasant experience up the road at another restaurant. We had fantastic coffee (own roasted) and shared a banana split made with rum and toffee sauce. It was delicious and the place was really humming. Next time we will dine on the Tapas menu it sounds very tasty.

best beef burger my husband’s had for years apparently!
friendly staff, squeezed us in pre-show and hustled our order.
I really enjoyed my tofu burger too, along with the fried plantains and cassava chips. Yum! We’ll definitely be back. What a find.

Best burgers I ever had sold here. Partner and I tried their $10 lunch menu (good value) – ordered their Jerk Tofu and Green Chili beef burgers. So, so good! Definitely coming back the next time I’m in Wellington! (p/s: they should open a branch up in Auckland)

Went there a few weeks with a few people from work. I was encouraged to go there by the fact that they advertised they could cater for vegans and vegetarians, and when I called to book a table, they answered the phone and booked me straightaway, unlike other restaurants I’d tried. They were very flexible about the fact that I didn’t know until the last minute how many people I was booking for.

The food was delicious, and it was hard to choose what to get because everything on the menu sounded great. The waitress was very friendly too.

Only thing they could improve on was a greater selection of desserts available.

Went in there over the Easter period, and due to the beautiful weather combined with it being a public holiday the place was incredibly busy to the point where we were lucky to even find a table.
Despite this, the service was friendly and quick, with the waitress engaging both my partner and I in conversation and joking around which made the wait for food not so bad.
We both ordered the chicken jerk burger and they were amazing. I’m generally not a fan of anything with spice, but this hit the perfect heat level. Also, cucumber in the burger – yummm. Will definitely be getting the coleslaw my partner got as a side next time too, it was delicious. My only compliant would be that the smoothie I ordered was a little lacking in flavour.
Overall though, a great place in Wellington to eat which I look forward to going to again.

We popped in last Wednesday, used our deal voucher. Having lived in the UK for 17 years I’ve missed traditional West Indie food. I have to say we were not disappointed. Not one bit! The jerk chicken was fantastic, the tropical coleslaw wonderful and the fried cornbread scrumptious. We had a good laugh with the waitress. The rice and peas? All the peas had run away. No peas! Lots of flavour full rice, just no peas. Not one! It was explained the new help had made the batch wrong. It didn’t matter, the rice was still great.
The service was great, very friendly, very polite and very apologetic for the missing peas :-)
We’ll be going back without a doubt and we’re already looking forward to it.
