We have visited this facility probably twice a year over 30 years. Today 21 Dec 2011 called in for breakfast, meal quantity was good, but Hash Browns tasted like they’d been fried in fat, the eggs fried but when turned over were blackened from an uncleaned grill plate.Coffee was over stewed for a filter coffee & not hot. For hours after my meal, taste was like burnt BBQ. The toilets are disgusting & need a good make over and clean. Will not return, which is a shame as this has always been an icon of our trips to from ChCh – Picton/Nelson

Don’t order the coffee!
I stopped for a coffee and a toasted sandwich. the toasty was great but the coffee was disgusting! It tasted like old dish washing water and was half cold. I haven’t tasted coffee that bad for many , many years.It was worse than old railway coffee back in the 50′s & 60′s.
A quiet word in a very diplomatic way was met with “I will tell the boss” and away she went.
So I ate my toasted sandwich and waited! and waited!! ~ nothing. The boss was at the chip fryer and didn’t even acknowledge my presence, let alone my very justified complaint.
I have been a regular on trips to the South Island and maybe the place has changed owners but I will NOT be calling again! Instant coffee would be better than the rubbish served up. To not have the guts or business acumen to resolve a complaint in this day and age means that they will not last long in any business. I hope the business changes hands soon!
