Recommending to all who loves Indian food !!!

Do not ever get food from Cease Fire in Symonds Street.
They’re aggressively leafleting in Central Auckland, presumably because no-one would be stupid enough to go there twice.
We came home from a brief sojourn out into the weather that was Auckland to find a flyer for Cease Fire in the mailbox – being both hungry and lazy, we decided to order in.
1/ Ringing up to place the order, I was answered by a bloke who was plainly incompetent, being unable to take down the simplest of addresses.
1a/ He sniffled through the entire exchange – if you’re working in food service, snotting down the phone at customers is not a good look.
1b/ He seemed to know nothing about the flyer offer of a ’10% discount if you mention this leaflet’ – I had to mention this several times before he got it.
1c/ Apparently ‘* Conditions apply’ for the discount – these ‘conditions’ are not mentioned in the flyer.
1d/ The order wallah phoned back to say ‘No discount possible’ – this would have been a whole three bucks on a thirty buck order, go figure…
2/ When the food arrived, the delivery bloke couldn’t even ring the doorbell – instead he phoned from outside the front door.
3/ Food arrived lukewarm.
4/ I ordered my Lamb Jalfrezi ‘medium’ – thank FSM I didn’t order like a crazy fool and ask for ‘Indian hot’ (it’s an option), since the medium was peeling paint from a couple of metres away; I like a hot curry, but always proceed with caution and that was just as well in this instance.
5/ My lamb contained chicken, lots and lots of chicken – while I appreciate culinary novelty as much as the next fool, this is a jape too far.
6/ Wife’s chicken (and my lambchicken) were reheated, not freshly cooked.
7/ Both options were largely inedible with the naan bread being the only edible part – even that was stale.
Couldn’t finish it.
Could hardlMorey start it.
Saved my guts a workout and flushed the lot down the kludgy.
A total waste of money.
This is a public service announcement; don’t give these hounds any more business.

At first I was skeptical about the lack of customers, but don’t let that put you off.
I ordered a chicken Mughlai extra hot, and it was so refreshing to have a curry that is just at the right temp. The flavour was amazing…
I got a bit greedy, and also ordered a garlic cheese Nann, this is something that most other Indian restaurants do not offer and is by far the best choice.
The service was lovely and prompt, and the dining environment very comfortable and clean.
I’m not usually a customer to speak up and compliment, but I raved about the food that night even wrote in their guest book
I think this place is an Indian jewel, and I will be returning again and again with everyone I know
We will return with friends.

I liked the huge range of dishes on the menu, and I tried the yellow dhal for something a bit different, which was beautiful. The garlic naan was delicious, and the $14.95 deal included a glass of wine (and the rice, and poppadoms too). I was so full that I couldn’t quite finish everything, and ate far too much coz it tasted so good!
Really friendly service, and a very clean and comfortable setting.
My only recommendation would be to make sure the music in the kitchen is the same as that in the restaurant, so I can’t hear two pieces of different music at once! … or turn the kitchen music down! (I kind of preferred the up-beat Indian music coming from the kitchen, but the chilled out orchestral music was good too – just not both at the same time!)
I definitely recommend this place for a fine tasting curry.
Things got off to a bad start when the first two people I spoke to on the phone, at 6:45pm on a Friday, could not tell me whether they would deliver to our address on the Eden Terrace side of Kingsland. I was then put on hold for 5min before finally getting the manager – who, to be fair, was friendly and helpful.
Then we waited….
About 1 hour and 15 minutes later the food arrived, delivered by a polite and apologetic delivery man.
Unfortunately, the two curries (a Chicken Tikka Masala and a Shahi Paneer) were both stone cold. They were also extremely sweet, overly creamy (over and above what one would expect on a curry) and, as between the two of them, indistinguishable in taste (despite one being ordered medium-hot and the other mild, and the two having differenct stated ingredients). The naans were also disappointing – victims, perhaps, of sitting too long wrapped in foil while lost in transit somewhere.
Perhaps this was just an off night or perhaps you really need to eat in to enjoy this place.

It’s always slightly worrying when a restaurant is quite but this is simply because all of the regulars order take away!
The service is great, very attentive without being over baring.
I always try to opt for healthy options when eating out which is often a challenge with Indian, if you’re a like minded individual try the Kaidai Chicken – this beautifully fresh tomato based dish has loads of flavour, with only a touch of cream.
We’ve also tried some naughtier options: Mango chicken – sweeter than the average, only go for this if you really enjoy sweet curries
Prawn mulaburi – I can’t say for certain that the prawns were fresh but this was still gorgeous with a thick more-ish gravy.
I’d recommend this place over Raviz which is just a hop skip and a jump away. Total winner for cheap and cheerful dine in or take away meal.

The Naan and Mango Lassi are also really good.
Great value for money. Great Atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. I will definitely be back!

The peshwari naan was very good but the biriyani was a bit greasy.
In terms of taste if you don’t mind a bit of oil, the flavor is packed with subtle and aromatic flavours.
Simply it is an awesome place and the staff was very friendly too.
The curries we had, had a real depth of favour and were not overly creamy or watery like some ‘lunchtime specials’
Worth a stop if you are in the area.

The service was great, didn’t have to wait for long for the food, the food was amazing, the naan bread very very yum…
