Loved my visit to Chantellinis, the linguine pasta lamb shank was to die for. So good in fact I returned the next day for it again! Friendly staff, great location. Looking forward to dinning there when I’m next in Hanmer.

Four of us had dinner at this restaurant Dec 18th 2010. We all chose different main courses and all of us agreed the food was excellent. Not one of us could find fault with our meals and we are all people who dine out fairly frequently. Our desserts were of the same high standard, the creme brulee I had perfection! The decor was charming and the service extremely professional. We will definately dine there again when next in Hanmer Springs and have already verbally passed on our recommendations to others.

We chose to eat at Chantellini’s for my birthday dinner. The place is physically gorgeous, and the menu also great. We had a really lovely dinner, and the service was just fantastic. We couldn’t fault it. In fact, we loved it so much, we decided to return for brunch the next day.

What I can say is that had we eaten brunch there first, we definitely would not have chosen to eat dinner there. I’m not one to normally complain, but for the sake of this restaurant being brand new, and coming in to a busy season, they really need to smarten up their breakfast experience if they want people to return.

I ordered the “golden toasted bircher muesli” with fresh fruit and yogurt. What arrived (in all seriousness) was a bowl of raw, uncooked oatmeal. Just awful. They were good enough to replace this, so I ordered poached eggs on toast. What arrived was eggs on top of run-of-the-mill sandwich bread, which was so soaked with water from the eggs the bread was soggy. No garnish – just soggy bread and two eggs, for $14.50. I wouldn’t mind paying this normally, but when I know I could have made better poached eggs on toast back at our apartment, I do have to question.

To their credit, the coffee was great. The best we had in Hamner. And once again the service and place itself fantastic.

Fingers crossed they can get their breakfast experience on par with their dinner experience.
