What I can say is that had we eaten brunch there first, we definitely would not have chosen to eat dinner there. I’m not one to normally complain, but for the sake of this restaurant being brand new, and coming in to a busy season, they really need to smarten up their breakfast experience if they want people to return.
I ordered the “golden toasted bircher muesli” with fresh fruit and yogurt. What arrived (in all seriousness) was a bowl of raw, uncooked oatmeal. Just awful. They were good enough to replace this, so I ordered poached eggs on toast. What arrived was eggs on top of run-of-the-mill sandwich bread, which was so soaked with water from the eggs the bread was soggy. No garnish – just soggy bread and two eggs, for $14.50. I wouldn’t mind paying this normally, but when I know I could have made better poached eggs on toast back at our apartment, I do have to question.
To their credit, the coffee was great. The best we had in Hamner. And once again the service and place itself fantastic.
Fingers crossed they can get their breakfast experience on par with their dinner experience.
