We come in the mornings because we like the atmosphere…that is apart from the very rude and impatient girl waitresses.
More staff training in basic manners is needed. Please?

Service? What service? After waiting at the counter for the two employees to finish their conversation one just pointed and said “that one in the corner is yours” and then it was at least 15 minutes before even drink orders were taken! The waitress was clearing a table close to us that had not been cleared since we arrived when I asked for another bottle of water, she took the 1/4 full bottle form the table she was clearing and filled my glass. The look on my face must have told it all and she started telling me that it was the same as the water at the counter, I asked again for a bottle and reluctantly she got a fresh bottle.
Don’t expect anything to happen in a hurry in this place, from having your orders taken (drinks and food) to having the table cleared after you have finished! It was a full hour from when we arrived to the time we got our meals and the waitress gave us the dessert menus before clearing the table, not easy to look at a menu when you have not room on the table!!
Having said all that, the meal was quite nice but I won’t be back to test the service again.

Excellent food, service & atmosphere. We went in for my husbands birthday and were treated with such great service from Jason, he even put candles on the desert as a nice touch. We have even booked in for a large booking this coming weekend, as they can cater for kids, and Blenheim is really lacking a family restaurant. Keep up the great service and those mocktails coming!! nice atmosphere, average food but with good presentation, most of the staff were friendly and helpful, thought it ws a little steeply priced for what you get

The past couple of times I have eaten at Chequers I have been very disappointed with the food and service. Considering that I have paid the same amount of money at other Blenheim restaurants/cafes and received top quality and well presented food, I really felt ripped off at Chequers. I asked staff to recommend a meal for lunch and was told that the chicken and avocado burger with fries was very good and that they hadnt received any complaints about it, well I’m really surprised that no one has yet. . . picture this. . . .one hard burger bun (probably homebrand), not just toasted on one side but hard, a luke warm chicken breast, sear marks on one side, stewed on the other side and dry in the middle, one normal slice of tomato and three thin tomato ends or peelings as there was no flesh and two blobs of badly discoloured avocado. Although the lettuce looked ok I was at the stage of being well and truly put off by the aforementioned. Lastly, the fries, these were shoe string and almost cold on arrival, I asked for tomato sauce as I didn’t like the tasteless aioli and I was told I would be charged extra for the sauce(????). I found it insulting that I was served this meal and I wont be going back again.

Excellent Food, Live Music & Service!! Thanks for making our night so special. I had the steak sandwich and it was delish, and left me wanting more. We didn’t know there was live music on a Friday night, so it was a wonderful surprise. Thanks we will be back.
