The China Kitchen is famous for the excellent quality of its signature dish, Pan Fried Dumplings. These are so popular, that the restaurant can make 600 a day of these delicacies: Choose from pork and chives; chicken and spinach; or vegetarian.
The China Kitchen ran as an inner-city restaurant from 2001, till the earthquake sent wwners Stella and Wesley Li to this new location in Papanui.
The owners’ vision for this new location was for a unique Chinese dining experience. They have used this opportunity to revise their menu, but have kept the old favourites and added several new dishes. The China Kitchen always uses fresh produce and healthy ingredients in their cooking wherever possible – including the use of canola oil and no MSG.
Stella herself recommends the barbecue pork, the teriyaki chicken and the teriyaki salmon, as favourites.
