Just one word describes our experience with this place.. Disgusting! Visiting HB & staying 40mins out of town. Decided to treat the family to Chinese takeaways after a busy day. What a mistake. Pork in sweet and sour was tough & the carrot was old and leathery. Raw chicken in the fried rice. Rest of the meal was barely edible. Rang to speak to manager. Got put on hold then hung up on. Rang back. Got told to bring the meal back. Tried to explain that we were 40 mins out of town. Hung up on again.

Vegetarian spring rolls served on the same platter as deep fried chicken wings!!!. Doesn’t management understand that vegetarians do NOT want their food contaminated with animal products??? Indifferent staff, overpriced food. What a disappointment. What a joke! Never again.

We had our first dining in experience at China Light this weekend and we thoroughly enjoyed it! We have had takeaways from here before and the food is always fresh and tasty. We will definitely be back again!

We are local people from Napier who have experienced many different takeaway options. Tonight’s option to go to China Light left us feeling very dissapointed. The Chowmein was like eating boiled vegetables = very bland by anyones standard I must say. The sweet and sour pork also had little flavour and was very much like a reheated microwave dish. The pork itself tough and soggy. I definately would not reccomend China Light to anyone looking for a takeaway option especially as the price was at the upper end of the takeaway market. Very disappointing.

We’ve eaten here several times over the last year & have noticed that the place has started to decline. The portions seem to be getting a bit smaller, although the vegetables are still lovely & fresh. The last 2 times our rice has been cold & gluggy. The service has been friendly but slow. Our drinks order gets taken then the waitress rushes off to answer the phone, serve in takeaways, deliver meals to another table before our drinks finally arrive. Surely if our drinks orders have been taken then we should be her sole focus until they arrive! Are we not as important as other customers? We decided not to order further drinks. What the owner/manager/staff have to realise is that there are many restaurants to choose from & when we dine out we expect good service & good food at a fair price. Will we dine here again? Probably, but we hope for an improvement in service. We feel this is a management problem, not a staff problem.

I’m really happy that China Light is open again after its holiday! Had to go to another Napier chinese restaurant for a work function and it was awful compared to China Light! No comparison really! The food is always tasty and you know it will be the same high quality when you order.

We’ve just moved to Napier & were looking for a family friendly Asian restaurant.China Light meets all our expectations & some!!Fabulous fresh food, large servings, all served by knowledgeable, friendly staff. Amazing value for money. We can’t afford to eat out often so it was a real treat for us. Will definitely go back. Recommend it to anyone who enjoys fresh food in a clean friendly restaurant.

Got my wife to get takeaways from china light Napier as our normal Chinese takeaway was shut, what a bad mistake! When she got it home it wasn’t hot, not even warm really. we started on the rice, it was over cooked and dry , next chow mein – all the vegetables were cold and not cooked, like a sauce had been put over raw vegetables . And finally the pork , once again vegetables not cooked and the pork had some strange lemon/lime zesty taste that was neither sweet or sour like what we ordered . This was not a cheap meal and when i’ve got to throw most of it out because its inedible and then try to find something else to eat. Worst Chinese ever!!

We have been going to China Light for years! Have dined in and frequently get take aways. The meals are ALWAYS tasty and fresh! The won tons and dim sims are amazing and the deep fried ice cream is something everyone should try! The meals are huge and good value for money. The staff are friendly and helpful and it has an awesome atmosphere!:)

My family have been customers for ages. 3 generations dine here or get takeaways.Fabulous fresh as food, HUGE portions. The dim sim are absolutely divine. Friendly staff.Maybe the dessert menu could be extended but the deep fried ice cream is ..WOW !
