9 Reviews for Cinnamon Fine Indian Cuisine & Bar
One of Cinnamon Fine Indian Cuisine & Bar's Favourite Reviews What's This?
Loving the fresh image and traditional dress of the staff. Each time we have been they have looked after us so well.
We found Cinnamon to be extremely clean and well presented. The food was amazing.
I highly recommend a visit to the locals and if you are passing through Taupo. Well done what a beautiful Indian Restaurant.
Went for lunch last Saturday.
Menu Lunch special says selection of curry + rice. So the party of three being all vegetarian asked for different vegetarian curry options.
Apparently there was only ONE curry option allowed–because it said so on the black board outside ! Which we later found had three non-vegetarian curries but only one vegetarian option that day.
So all of us had the option of ordering the same curry or order from the a la carte menu which we did. An Indian restaurant and only one vegetarian option — c’mon Cinnamon you can do better than that.
Also a bit more customer friendly approach would have seen you come up with an alternate when this was pointed out….but you refused.

Thoroughly recommended.
The wheels began to wobble on our dining experience when the waitress who came to us to take our order for the mains was completely inadequately prepared for the task. She was a lovely, personable young lady, and I think one day she will be a GREAT waitress – but it became clear in seconds that not only was this her first waitressing gig, but also the training she’d received was minimal, a fault I lay directly at the feet of the management. So, on to the food. Our entrées were delicious, lip-smackingly good baji and samosa and other goodies on a sizzle platter that we ate with gusto. But the wheels fell off completely when it came to the mains; of our party that had the butter chicken, he described it after as ‘chewy and burnt tasting’; I’d just gotten a prawn curry when I immediately noticed how cold they were. Cutting one open I found it translucent and still basically raw, so I had to send it back to be cooked further. The properly cooked curry, when it came back, was delicious – but when a kitchen sends out a dish that badly undercooked on a quiet evening, it is a bit of a worry.
Having survived the main course, we were after some of their famed Indian cocktails; these were not incorporatMoreed into the main drinks list, so we had to ask after them to find out what was available. After we ordered, these drinks did take awhile longer to arrive than was warranted. They still seemed to be looking up the recipes for each drink behind the bar. At $18 each, they were at the upper end of what you’d expect to pay for a cocktail.
For me, uneven describes it best, and it is somewhat of a shame for these guys as the competition for Indian Dining in Taupo is more fierce than ever.

Happy to hear from the restaurant that they are improving the information about the menu. Thank you.
