Went there for lunch, service is ok although we were sitting next to the kitchen in a nearly empty restaurant and all we heard was the duty manager telling off the kitchen staff and just having a “whinge” in general.

The food arrived in good time but it was absolutely revolting!!! I had the cobb schnitzel, it was obviously cooked, frozen, thawed and heated. Cutting into it, it stunk and flowed out with juices from it having been frozen. The chips were freezer burnt and just an oily deep fried mess and the salad was wilted and warm. I felt as thought I was going to throw up all afternoon after having been there. My husband had the squid which was slightly better, chips and salad were as bad as mine though.

I would not recommend them to anyone, I wouldn’t even feed there food to my dogs. Unbelievably bad food and so overpriced!! Don not waste your time or money!!

Well done Cobb & Co Manukau.

Good home-style food in a cosy, family friendly atmosphere.

If you’re looking for sophisticated cuisine and cutting edge decor this is not the place for you. However, it is just the place for a relaxed meal with the kids and grandma.

Fantastic to see the return of more made from scratch foods – the Cobb Schnitzel was yummy. Gone is the nasty frozen imitation they served in up the cost cutting drives of the past.

Simple food, simple service and some good deals to be had on the kiddies and seniors menus.

We’ll be back!

Went here today for mums birthday! i loved the atmosphere I loved the seating and service was perfect!!

Ordered the Alexander chicken and it was perfect although the chicken schnitzel that mum got was a little bland and chunky and thick otherwise the rest was great! the cake came out as it should with side plates and mum had a great day to remember!!
We would have cobb and co wen we were kids all the time as a reward for behaving, we used to get the shoe box chicken and chips! It was so good!! miss those days!

I loved the entertainment with the puzzles on the table! I totally remember them! Always kept me busy before the food came…. and I’m in my 20′s LOL

Thanks again cobb and co you guys are awesome!!!

Dined here with my boyfriend, He orded steak, i had the fish and chips.
Food was below average, Service ok but not up to usual restaurants standard.
The look of the restaurant itself is quite unappealing, the front entrances completely bare? We didnt know whether to go through the door or not! haha.
Overall was an average experience, Definitely room for improvement, i could of gone to dennys and gotten the same thing for 50 bucks instead of almost 80.

Ate there last nite, was a bit dubious about going re the reviews and never having been there before, was totally blown away, place was clean,we were greeted and seated immediately, offered drinks and given menus to browse through.Orders were taken and delivered promptly, food was delicious and the ‘duty manager’ Debbie had a fab sense of humour.Over all, definitely was our first visit and wont be our last, well done to the team from the waitress, duty manager to the kitchen staff.KC

Was extremely disappointed with the food at Cobb and Co, Manukau. I ordered the Alexandra Chicken, which came with powdered mashed potato, and overcooked carrots.

The kids meal (chicken tenderloins) were overcooked and so were the fries.

The cobb loaf came out with takeaway butter sachets, and no side dishes to cut the loaf on.

Ordered a common alcoholic mixed drink (whisky), however was given a completely wrong drink (bourbon).

This cobb and co need to employ a chef who can actually boil, and mash real potato, and employ people who have the right qualifications to be serving alcoholic beverages.

Waitress’s never asked us if we would like top up drinks, or how our meal was.
Do not recommend at all. 26 Aug 2011!

Had dinner last night at Cobb and Co Manukau, definitely had better, the service was bad, food below average we got there a bit after 6pm so they weren’t busy still took 15 mins to take our order, asked for no salad with steak meal, got salad, kids asked for curly fries instead of normal they got charged extra $6.50 for them!, carrots with main meal were a blackish colour, starter got to us after the main, asked for the ice cream sundae with no cream it arrived with cream, ordered a Cobb loaf we had to use our place mats as plates as they didn’t bring any out, steak arrived on its own, 5 minutes later the fries and eggs arrived, the waitresses don’t listen or care, not once asked if we would like more drinks etc, won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend

Service friendly & efficient but food not up to standard. Mushroom sauce stodgy & straight out of a tin. Fish in beer batter very oily & more batter than fish. Will not return

Been here a few times..and i must say that their food differs everytime..
i saw on the newspaper/ counties manukau one that there was a deal for 2 meals for the price for $30? Monday – Thurs and when i went to ask them they said they were no longer doing it for that price because of the GST rise ? And the voucher had no expired yet? Staff are great though..

I wish that I had read these reviews BEFORE going to this “GARBAGE” restaurant,
We had the scallops, for $30-50 each one would expect FRESH scallops not recycled hockey pucks (frozen). It should state on the menu that these are frozen.Overall this was one of the worst meals we have ever had ….this used to be a good nosh!!!
I will tell everyone I know how bad it is NOW….we will not be back.

Well I have read all your reviews, Mmmmmmmm. We have been a couple of times in the last six months and the food was fine, the last time we went we had the roast of the day, and for dessert a wonderful very filling chocolate cake, really nice. Service was great from the Manager (South African) but it did take a while to get the meals. That was the only disappointing thing for the evening and people do not like to wait sadly. Contemplating if we should go back tomorrow night for my partners b’day or go to Lone Star.

What a terrible time we had here.
Firstly – we arrived and waited 20 minutes and only once I asked did we recieve our garlic bread.
It took exactly 55 minutes to get our order to us – we had almost walked out.
People around us had walked out – 2 other groups.
Noone mentioned such a long wait was ahead.

Food came out and was very average.
I had salmon which was dry and tasteless!
We were sat right by the kitchen and it was horrid… we had to listen to the boss shouting at the waitress’s and them all discussing their needs to go to the toilet

Bad bad experience – wont ever return

Food was OK, nothing special. Limited menu for a family. We all agreed that the main course had no real flavour. Ordered large drinks, but arrived in small glasses, and charged for large.Would not eat in there again ! The staff did try, not asked if we required further drinks. We shall not be dining there again, it looks so promising, but failed to deliver.

I took some clients to dinner on Thursday night. First thing I noticed was that they have an A grade! Cant remember what it was the first time I went there,I read some other characters comment about their B grade. Well, congrats on that Cobb.
Meals were a little slow in coming out but they were busy. Food and service was superb and my clients were happy with my choice of restaurant too. Thanks to all at Cobb & co. Will see you again soon

Ive been to C & C a few times, mainly my friends request to go there, most times the service has been impeccable, but there’s always a delay on getting the food to the table. Going to Cobb n Co is like having a potluck dinner, no matter what you order, you still never know what you are going to get, sometimes the food is well cooked and sometimes uncooked, stale or tastless. Overall the service is good, but the Im paying for the food, the service is secondary. Definitely needs improvement especially with the prices being charged.

this place is crap. Do not eat here…

we were served rotten spare ribs with a ‘tangy’ sauce which was just microwaved bbq sauce.

the fishermans catch meal was just an assortment of packeted seafood bits you would find in the frozen food aisle at the supermarket.
apart from the service the place is a dump, i could have spent the $130 on an awsome feed at Lonestar.

pick up your standards Cobb & Co coz your name is mud.

I took my family out for a mothers day dinner. Two of us ordered the Lamb Shanks and were shocked when the food arrived the gravy was hot but the meat was cold!(Contrary to the statement in the menu that the Shanks are simmered in the gravy for hours) My sister In law had taken a bite of hers and I had touched mine. We sent the food back and were more shocked when the plates swiftly arrived back after being reheated in the microwave and my sister In laws plate was then given to me! The kids meal was just as bad, one chicken strip with chips they even skipped the crunchies(We had to ask for them)you would get more at McDonald’s. All in all the food was of quite poor standard for the price. For four mains, two entrees, one drink each and a kids meal total cost $180.00. Will definitely not go back or recommend to others.

This place is lots of small things away from being a decent family restaurant…it seemed clean and tidy and the staff were well presented and knowledgeable but the decor is dated and it feels like a hotel lobby…apparently it has a B rating?

Specials. I want good food…not a 15 minute speech on specials and their prices.

The menu old fashioned and completely devoid of imagination…but you need a chef with a little talent making the produce choices and cooking because simple stuff is good.

I just wanted a good steak and chips.

We both had Surf & Turf.

The 300gm steak was 250gm of gristle. The chips were straight out of a McCains bag and that mushroom sauce is industrial strength goop…and wtf is with the chefs use of dried parsley? It was on EVERYTHING. Also…the only way to get prawns to look like that when you cook is to do it in a microwave.

The girl who served us was great…nice and personable but she’s fighting an uphill battle when its the kind of place where the bar runs out of diet coke (It’s next door to a bottle shop)

If you can’t get steak and chips right…what hope have you got?

We had a great dinner there just last week. The staff were very friendly and professional. The food was fantastic – good old Cobb n co value for money and have a high standard and the decor gave a great atmosphere for a lovely dinner.
Front of the house cashier was very personable.

First thing I noticed was the B grade, which means there is “moderate” cleanliness compliance.
Advice dont order the schnitzel…it aint what it used to be! I had the roast….the beans and carrots were straight out of a frozen watties bag and the pork was minimal, mostly being fat. Still hungry after i had it. Dissapointed and wont be back.

I took my family to Cobb N Co on Saturday afternoon for lunch and is was absolutely shocking. My partner had the roast of the day which was pork. Only one small roast potatoe with his meal and hard peas. The kids had burgers which consisted of a meat patty and cheese on one and a bit of bacon added on the other. The bacon burger came with a side salad that was all wiltered and brown and had obviously been sitting around in the heat. I had the chicken which was under cooked and served with mashed potatoe that was brown and lumpy and once again with hard peas. Couldnt wait to get out of the place and will not be returning any time soon. Pick up your game cobb N co you use to be a great place to dine……Waste of $100 for lunch that was crap

Tried this place again for lunch. When we entered we guessed the owner, cook and another were standing at the front desk, then one woman bellowed for a server to come seat us…as they continued to complain to each other about some issue. The server was lovely. She was helpful in asking where we’d like to sit. She was also able to recite all the specials etc…management here has got to wake up. Don’t make your servers recite 5 minutes of specials. Make better food. I had a open faced steak sandwich which was mostly gristle. My husband had scallops (6) but the white part was missing in 4 of them, he only got the roe. Won’t go back very soon.

Took the family to Cobb and Co last night we had been there before and it wasnt too bad for a family style restaurant. However last night was a total disaster! The general state of the place was a mess with tables full of dirty dishes waiting to be cleared. The duty ‘manager’ muttered something about being short staffed. We were seated and after about 10 minutes a waitress arrived to take our order, Our drinks arrived fairly promptly and after another 10 minutes one plate of garlic bread arrived and with a hurried I’ll bring the other one in a minute the wait person disappeared. No side plates to use. 15minutes later the remaining Garlic bread arrived once again no side plate offered and no chance of asking for them as the delivery was high speed. At this stage we should have realized this was going to be a major problem of bad service as the customers at the next table applauded when their meals finally arrived! After a hour of waiting and asking twice how long our meals would be we decided to leave. We paid for what we had received and also got a mumbled apology from the duty manager. This is probally the most appalling service I have ever received in a restaurant. Then to cap it all we noticed on leaving that the place now only had a city council B classification! YUK!

My partner & I went to this “restaurant” last Saturday night. It’s in the same premises as Catch was & Cobb & Co was there years ago. Sign out the front still says Catch but it’s long gone.

There were so many stuff ups that I was wondering if it was a Fawlty Towers theme night. Too be fair to all involved, it’s only been open about a week but it would seem that most staff had no training.

I think we had four waiters so it would appear that they aren’t allocated tables to wait on. The first two were male immigrants that couldn’t understand my Kiwi accent & were very subservient eg just about whispering, bending down to the table. I don’t expect them to be my best friends but they’re my equals.

Asked for Merlot with my main. Waiter had no clue what I meant after several repetitions so I just pointed to it on the menu. Then he kept coming back because he hadn’t got sufficient information eg which brand, glass or bottle.

Another waiter brought our food out & said “Are these yours?”. I’m thinking don’t YOU know.

There were two older men trying to control the staff but when I’m out for tea I don’t want to listen to staff being told how to do their jobs ie go & clear that table, wait at the bar for the drinks order.

The barmaid & one waiter were Kiwis & seemed to know what they were doing.

Strangely, we won’t be going back.
