We decided to give the Cob and Co another chance after a few letdowns in the past. It was valentine’s day so we expected at least a little bit of effort.

Our drinks took 30minutes to arrive despite numerous queries about why it was taking so long. In the end it turned out that they lost our ticket. We were halfway through our meal when the drinks arrive.

The hamburger I had was terrible. $22 for what was probably the worse meal I have ever experienced in my life. It was drowned in BBQ sauce and cabbage. I was really disappointed. My wife’s steak fillet was dry and very over cooked.

The restaurant was not full at all. I counted about 6 staff members on the floor and there were not even 6 tables. It seems staff members were being paid to just hang around by the payment area and talk. None of them had any idea about waitressing. Table was never cleared despite some of us already having our deserts.

Can’t recommend this place. We will never be going back. Its a shame as we are from the area and would really like to support them.

In transit from wellington to auckland we decided to stop in paraparaumu for a evening meal with our overseas visitors. I ordered the seafood chowder at 7 pm & we all ordered 4 mains. As nothing had arrived by 7 45 pm I cancelled the chowder and enquired again how long we had to wait for the mains? 10 minutes later the food arrived. We ordered1 scollop’s which was ok, 1 fish meal which was passable but floating in a watery liquid & 2 hoover hog meals which were almost inedible. The pork was over cooked and dry, The crackling was just a thick skin on the one side and my pork had 4 pieces of bone chips in it. Considering the price asked this is the worst meal we have had, and we dine out quite a lot. what has happened to your company. We used to get really good meals at cob & co.

Food had no taste and tasted like it may have been cooked in bulk and then microwaved. Food was also cold when it arrived at the table.

Play area was good for the kids but service was slow and not the best.

I have dined at cobb n co several times over the past 6 or 7 years but it has gone downhill.

One day there is a sign outside with KIDS DINE FREE,no asterix to imply conditons apply, there was no indication that there were conditions. Went to pay but because I had ordered my meal off the $10 lunch menu,I also had to pay for her meal, when I stressed the point that they had advertised kids dine free they said it doesnt apply when the adult choosed from the $10 menu.

Yesterday when we were there(a large function) people waited 45 mins-1 hour for their meals, chips werent even lukewarm, people who wanted rare or medium rare steak it was well done. My brother waited an hour for his meal despite asking after it 3 times, then recieved his medium rare steak well done and complained and they re did it and got it to him within 10 mins(amazing that it took them over an hour originally)

My meal is generally so basic a monkey couldnt stuff it up so if Im ever desperate and all options are exhausted,I would consider cobb n co….maybe

Appalling and dirty were the words my family and I came away with. The food was realy poor and the staff knew it as we didn’t get asked once how our meal was. The plates and water bottle were dirty the food was very average at best. We won’t be returning to a cob & Co for a long time.

I came to the Paraparaumu Cobb and Co on Saturday, I have not eaten for many years at a Cobb and Co but a friend asked me for lunch. I ordered a Pork roast. I was very disappointed the meal had peas, corn and carrots that had been cooked for a very long time stewed, the pork was tasteless and stringy and so thin. I ate the meal because my friend had paid for it and I did not want to be rude. If you are wanting to know what a good roast cooked in bulk then go to the mall and have a roast, cost less than yours and tasted really nice. I will not be eating at Cobb and Co again. Regards Helen.

I too visited this store on 25th of Sept after having great previous visits.Firstly one of the stalls had no toilet paper left is this not manned? My meal was served last of all the table, they were apologetic and they did bring my bowl of chips after everyone else had there mains. I was disappointed with the wait between the entree then between those who only ordered the main and then between the dessert so in the end i had filled up with so much water i didn’t want dessert. On a positive note the girls who waited us were friendly enough even though twice they misheard, and the area for the children was good. We had considered calling them to complain but i have read in previous comments it goes ignored. Overall for the price you pay for the poor quality of the meal i will go elsewhere in the future.

Hard to know where to start as this has to be one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had.Even though booking was made to include one child had to ask for a child’s menu as Mr 11 year old was given an adults one. Order done in good time and drinks arrived in good time but during the evening only once did someone come over and ask if we wanted any more and this was straight after the main course arrived. We spent the rest of the evening drinking water as no-one came back for more orders. I had the steak with prawns and took it back as is was hardly eatable, it was chewy and even hard to cut with a steak knife. It looked nothing like the picture in the menu and came out with only three prawns on top not the pile as per the picture. The sauce had split and curdled on the plate looking anything but appetizing. Good point was when I complained the steak was replaced but I still had to wait an extra 20 minutes for it. Roast of day meals came out luke warm. Waited over 20 minutes after main course plates cleared for staff to take dessert orders and even then had to go and find someone!Asked for the child’s desert to be done to go but this came out for eating at the table delivered by the same person who took the order! my parent are regular customers who have now been put off the very poor quality service they received – you may have just lost two regular customers!

Just arrived home from having lunch at the Cobb. 8 Adults and 5 children.
We were celebrating an 18Th birthday.
Our meals were fab, not one complaint from any of us. Had a chocolate cake made which was our dessert and the Cobb did an awesome job of making and decorating it.
Thanks so much for an wonderful afternoon at the Cobb and thanks to the ladies who served us they were really wonderful.

This is a great place to take kids, their kids room was well equipped for the fussiest children from playstation to televisions, books and toys. My son loves it here.

The food is pricey for a family restaurant but our meal was tasty and my son loved his meal and his traffic light drink.

Excellent service again, and great food!
We are a difficult family with a range of food intolerances. The helpful maitre de went out of her way, repeatedly visiting the kitchen to check our menu queries. Wait staff very friendly and helpful also. Food was great for a family restaurant – the kids loved their chicken baskets and we had lovely steak & prawns.
Practical for kids with the play areas, helpful staff & great food; as good an experience as the same time last year. We’ll definitely be back.

Great family restaurant. We appreciate the play area, which takes the stress out of eating out with small children. The meals are great value for money and the staff have always been friendly. We’ve been many times and always had good experiences.

I believe that our experience was a direct result of the tight financial times family restaurants find themselves in.

It is obvious they can only afford to pay minimum youth rates, as the complete debacle that was our dinning experience was – I believe – down to well-meaning but totally inexperienced staff, both in the kitchen and in the dining room.

Orders were delivered at the wrong time and often cold, specific requests (steak medium-rare for example) were incorrectly handled and food – just a suspicion here – seemed to have been…umm…”recycled” perhaps from previous nights.

Oh…and (if the owners check these) just a training tip here for your staff..Pinot Noir is the red coloured wine…Pinot Gris is the clear stuff!

If you value your dining experience, check out some of the cafes and eateries closer to the beach.

If you are entertaining someone you really dislike, sure – give this place a go.

The 8 year old’s choice for his birthday treat – this meant we all knew what we were in for – low quality, expensive meals and not an experience we would choose. Unfortunately, it was even worse. The squid salad entree was surprisingly good, raising expectations. But the steak was overcooked – well done, not medium rare. The seafood chowder was thick gluggy cheese sauce laced with bits of something rubbery. The 8 year old’s chicken was well overdone. My roast pork main was so horrible it was shocking – I seriously think it had been cooked the previous night and re-heated. Inedible. Foul. The poor teenage waiter was apologetic, but he didn’t really know what he was doing either – forgetting orders, promising the kids’ meals first but they came out last, bringing the wrong wine, ordering too many desserts. Never ever go here. By the low numbers the night we went, everyone else already knows this.

After a nice experience at the Cobb 6 months ago, we returned here recently, and I was very underwhelmed. The food tasted ‘plastic’

I ordered the Chicken Alexandra which looked like it was a pre-made frozen one. The mashed potato tasted like it was from potato flakes, and was doused in dark packet gravy. The apricot sauce had an odd tang about it.

I swapped the veges for salad thinking I’d have a nice fresh salad, but regretted it when the salad bar plate arrived. More ‘odd’ (or old?) tasting food.

Its a shame really, it could have been a nice meal if fresh ingredients were used, but I left feeling like I would have had a tastier dish next door at McD’s!

I ate at this restaurant on the 19th Dec.
Like the previous review the experience was pitful.
Ordered the Christmas Menu of Shrimp Cocktail(that were so minute and smothered in sauce to disguise them)Then there was the turkey!!Little bits that looked like large crumbs.Asking the manager about it he said that the slicer had broken down.Could they slice it with a knife.I wondered whether is was actually turkey, having lost it later that night at the back end.
And the staff need a lot of training, and the salad bar items, many that were very dried up.
The best part was the Cobb Loaf, and the discount offered on the what was called a milk shake.

Don’t go to this restaurant! We had dinner at Cobb & Co Coastlands at Paraparaumu this evening to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant was more than half empty but we were allocated a table right beside to another table occupied by four diners who were drinking, farting, belching and swearing. We had our two children aged 12 and 7 with us. After the occupants of this table left I asked to see the manager. A woman approached our table, said she was the manager, but walked off without a word when I began complaining to her about our table allocation. A male staff member then came up to me. When I asked him why, with all the vacant tables in the restaurant, we’d been put next to these particular diners, he said they were regular customers, they were handicapped, and that he’d not noticed them causing any problem. He told me the fault was mine because I didn’t report the matter earlier. When I reacted forcefully to this by saying it’s for him to exercise care in allocating tables suitable for children, his exact words were “I can’t believe what I’m hearing.” No sympathy was given to our complaint as customers, nothing was done to make amends, and the belligerent man named Robertson made sure our evening dinner at Cobb & Co Coastlands Paraparaumu was totally ruined.

recently had a birthday celebration there. 5 adults, 4 older children and one toddler. Not many people in the restaurant (it was a Tuesday) yet service was very slow. The beginning of the toddler meal was forgotten as was the dessert. The older children’s drinks got forgotten about (but they still tried to charge on the bill) and we had to ask twice for them to get the desserts that come with the meals. We were not told that where the menu states “with salad” it is now the salad bar and you have to serve yourself until i queried if the piece of tomato on my plate was my salad and then was pointed in the direction of the salad bar. What should have been a stress free birthday celebration was full of hungry children, slow service and stress so would recommend staying at home.

We had a meal there last week, and we were disgusted in the service and the meals. There were only 3 of us, 2 adults and 1 child. Myself and my husband ordered our meals, my husband asked for the veges to be left out, and replace with chips, and I asked for Garlic on my steak. My husbands hoover hog came covered in veges, no chips, and my steak came, smothered in far to much gravy, and no garlic at all. At the end of our meal, our plates were left sitting there, and empty glasses, we were not offered another drink, let alone to see the desert menu. My Son’s kids meal was cold, and he didn’t even get his free desert. After complaining, we were told that the waitress was in training… well that’s no our fault, and why should we have suffered, if she hasn’t been trained properly. There were only about 4 other people in the restaurant, so really no excuse. They ended up taking our “all” of 2 drinks off the bill and the bread, but felt they could’ve done more.
We will never go back there, and definitely Will not recommend it to visitors on the Kapiti Coast. As we have alot to do with the hospitality industry.

My husband and I eat at Cobb n Co every few weeks, and we’ve done so for the past couple of years .. since they opened.

There are no restaurants in the Kapiti area that run as professionally as Cobb n Co. They have an extensive and interesting menu, their staff are pleasant and helpful, and the standard of cooking and presentation would be the best of any restaurant north of Wellington.

We dined at the Whitehouse restaurant this past Saturday night. For one of the top 5 NZ restaurants, its steak, at forty two dollars, was of a lower quality than the steak we’ve eaten previously at Cobb n Co (separate review to follow).

When we dine we don’t care about the prices. We judge value based on the quality of food and the dining experience. With exception to the odd occasion family’s bring their horrible out-of-control children to run riot through Cobb n Co, the overall value we perceive is “excellent”.

Once you factor in that they operate from Kapiti, the value elevates to “unsurpassed”! We only wish other restaurants in the area would take inspiration from Cobb n Co and then we wouldn’t need to dine out of town as frequently as we do.

couldn’t get a seat to order some simple desserts for two.was then offed to order them at the bar, only to be told by the manager whilst she was passing that it would only be OK to eat in the bar if we were of age…I’m 27!!!offended I said we would prefer a seat in the eating area we were asked to wait in the waiting area.while the staff ran round in circles for 15 min unable to clear us up a table for us.so we left it was just embarrassing.

Good rood, we had the roast on the cheap roast day and it was very nice and reasonably priced as well, the food seems to have improved over the past year and I would definitely come back again with a family group. We were served by a nice young man who may have been new as he was a bit nervous but he did a great job and smiled which is so important.

Food was good but pity they can’t stick to their price for the meals they quoted from the night before. Rang on a Monday night to ask if they had a Tuesday Special and they said two for $25. The next night they said the only special was pork at $13.95 and wouldn’t honour their price from the night before even when they still advertised it on their menu card on the table. When you write a letter of complaint – you get absolutely no response.

Of the Cobbs around this the best in all regards. The meals are enormous and whilst not cheap, reasonably priced. This place is the best equiped for the real family outing, you know the ones with all the grandchildren and aunts etc.

The Pub is also a very nice location and under serviced in the region. Good meeting place pre-train for the rubgy or soccer at the Cake Tin or Ring of Fire which ever you preference.
