Our drinks took 30minutes to arrive despite numerous queries about why it was taking so long. In the end it turned out that they lost our ticket. We were halfway through our meal when the drinks arrive.
The hamburger I had was terrible. $22 for what was probably the worse meal I have ever experienced in my life. It was drowned in BBQ sauce and cabbage. I was really disappointed. My wife’s steak fillet was dry and very over cooked.
The restaurant was not full at all. I counted about 6 staff members on the floor and there were not even 6 tables. It seems staff members were being paid to just hang around by the payment area and talk. None of them had any idea about waitressing. Table was never cleared despite some of us already having our deserts.
Can’t recommend this place. We will never be going back. Its a shame as we are from the area and would really like to support them.

Play area was good for the kids but service was slow and not the best.

One day there is a sign outside with KIDS DINE FREE,no asterix to imply conditons apply, there was no indication that there were conditions. Went to pay but because I had ordered my meal off the $10 lunch menu,I also had to pay for her meal, when I stressed the point that they had advertised kids dine free they said it doesnt apply when the adult choosed from the $10 menu.
Yesterday when we were there(a large function) people waited 45 mins-1 hour for their meals, chips werent even lukewarm, people who wanted rare or medium rare steak it was well done. My brother waited an hour for his meal despite asking after it 3 times, then recieved his medium rare steak well done and complained and they re did it and got it to him within 10 mins(amazing that it took them over an hour originally)
My meal is generally so basic a monkey couldnt stuff it up so if Im ever desperate and all options are exhausted,I would consider cobb n co….maybe

We were celebrating an 18Th birthday.
Our meals were fab, not one complaint from any of us. Had a chocolate cake made which was our dessert and the Cobb did an awesome job of making and decorating it.
Thanks so much for an wonderful afternoon at the Cobb and thanks to the ladies who served us they were really wonderful.
The food is pricey for a family restaurant but our meal was tasty and my son loved his meal and his traffic light drink.
We are a difficult family with a range of food intolerances. The helpful maitre de went out of her way, repeatedly visiting the kitchen to check our menu queries. Wait staff very friendly and helpful also. Food was great for a family restaurant – the kids loved their chicken baskets and we had lovely steak & prawns.
Practical for kids with the play areas, helpful staff & great food; as good an experience as the same time last year. We’ll definitely be back.

It is obvious they can only afford to pay minimum youth rates, as the complete debacle that was our dinning experience was – I believe – down to well-meaning but totally inexperienced staff, both in the kitchen and in the dining room.
Orders were delivered at the wrong time and often cold, specific requests (steak medium-rare for example) were incorrectly handled and food – just a suspicion here – seemed to have been…umm…”recycled” perhaps from previous nights.
Oh…and (if the owners check these) just a training tip here for your staff..Pinot Noir is the red coloured wine…Pinot Gris is the clear stuff!
If you value your dining experience, check out some of the cafes and eateries closer to the beach.
If you are entertaining someone you really dislike, sure – give this place a go.

I ordered the Chicken Alexandra which looked like it was a pre-made frozen one. The mashed potato tasted like it was from potato flakes, and was doused in dark packet gravy. The apricot sauce had an odd tang about it.
I swapped the veges for salad thinking I’d have a nice fresh salad, but regretted it when the salad bar plate arrived. More ‘odd’ (or old?) tasting food.
Its a shame really, it could have been a nice meal if fresh ingredients were used, but I left feeling like I would have had a tastier dish next door at McD’s!

Like the previous review the experience was pitful.
Ordered the Christmas Menu of Shrimp Cocktail(that were so minute and smothered in sauce to disguise them)Then there was the turkey!!Little bits that looked like large crumbs.Asking the manager about it he said that the slicer had broken down.Could they slice it with a knife.I wondered whether is was actually turkey, having lost it later that night at the back end.
And the staff need a lot of training, and the salad bar items, many that were very dried up.
The best part was the Cobb Loaf, and the discount offered on the what was called a milk shake.

We will never go back there, and definitely Will not recommend it to visitors on the Kapiti Coast. As we have alot to do with the hospitality industry.

There are no restaurants in the Kapiti area that run as professionally as Cobb n Co. They have an extensive and interesting menu, their staff are pleasant and helpful, and the standard of cooking and presentation would be the best of any restaurant north of Wellington.
We dined at the Whitehouse restaurant this past Saturday night. For one of the top 5 NZ restaurants, its steak, at forty two dollars, was of a lower quality than the steak we’ve eaten previously at Cobb n Co (separate review to follow).
When we dine we don’t care about the prices. We judge value based on the quality of food and the dining experience. With exception to the odd occasion family’s bring their horrible out-of-control children to run riot through Cobb n Co, the overall value we perceive is “excellent”.
Once you factor in that they operate from Kapiti, the value elevates to “unsurpassed”! We only wish other restaurants in the area would take inspiration from Cobb n Co and then we wouldn’t need to dine out of town as frequently as we do.

The Pub is also a very nice location and under serviced in the region. Good meeting place pre-train for the rubgy or soccer at the Cake Tin or Ring of Fire which ever you preference.
Did you eat at this restaurant? Have an opinion to share?
