Great place to take kids but….
My meal was very disappointing. The salt and pepper squid resembled soggy dumplings and was not served as described. Veggies came in a sea of cheese sauce. Definitely quantity over quality. I really would be reluctant to eat here again.
When paying I Explained why I found the meal disappointing. I sensed they are well used to hearing complaints.
For the money there are way better options in Napier. Just a pity they cater so well for families without also providing good food.

After having dinner at Cobb & co Napier I was very impressed. The girls out the front of the restaurant where very friendly and fast with service. The meals where promptly out and tasted fantastic and with both desserts and main meals the staff made sure to come over and check with us that everything was what we expected. to tell you the truth it was more then what we expected. would definitely recommend it to others and will certainly be going back there!

The Good; The food was actually pretty good when it got to us and it wasnt to expensive
The Bad; The Service. Appalled. We were ignored most of the time. The starters came out 15 minutes apart and the mains 10 minutes apart. We waited 1 hour for the first starters. And to top it all off there was only 3 tables full in the hole place!

I would not recommend Cobb & Co unfortunately. The food was below average, chips looked and tasted as though they were refried, we went there about two years ago so it might be better now (hopefully!)

I would not recommened this Resturant to anyone.
Poor food, chicken was barely cooked and the wedges just tasted like oil. The lettuce was rotten.
They hadn’t cleaned up from the night before and the staff just lay all over the main entrance desk.
Bad staffing and poor quality food.

As an retired restaurateur I will not commend on the food, other than to say.”Cob and Co was ones the restaurant with basic food, but tasty cooked.”
That time has gone!!!!
My problem with Cob and Co has to do with their cutlery, and special with their knifes , The last 2 years that I had lunch there on 3 or 4 occasions ,I asked the Manager every time , to bring them away for sharpening, but nothing has been done as far as I know.
The last time I was there ( About 2 months ago ), I frightened the waitress , by forceful trying to cut my wrist with a steak knife. No blood came out!!!!!
I believe, that Cob and Co’s knifes are now allowed on the international airlines.
No harm can come of it !!!
By reading tonight many reviews from several Cob and Co’s, It seems to me that Cob and Co has a big problem management !!!!

I actually approached this venue with trepidation given the reviews posted. Due to the fact that we had been gifted vouchers I felt obliged to go although I am not sure I would have gone if I had had to pay myself – but I am glad I did. I am going out of my way to write this to be fair to the owners and so others are not put off by previous reviews. Service was excellent, all were very attentive and the food was excellent as well. As a party of 6 we had 5 different dishes and there were no complaints about any of them. I had the pork loin which was great. Well done you guys, excellent night!!

After travelling around New Zealand for three weeks and eating at dozens of restaurants, I would rate the Cobb and Co at Napier as the worst restaurant for food and service we ate at.
Firstly we were seated for 10 minutes before we were approached by staff. I ordered a rare steak – it was appalling. It came out on a sizzle tray and by the time I was half way through it .. it was well done. The salad was dry and tasted like I would imagine hay does. I noticed that when you ordered a steak there was an offer of a free shrimp cocktail…what a total joke. The staff forgot to give it to me……but put one on the table half way through my main course. It consisted of a table spoon full of tiny Vietnam prawns which had been frozen and were absolutely tasteless…. I could go on and on about my wifes meal. She was initally served the wrong meal and by the time she got the correct one I was nearly finished trying to stomach what they had given me. We ordered two beers. They had obviously just been put in the fridge because they were still warm. I dared not complain in case they suggested putting some ice in them. The staff (with the exception of the lady who actually delivered the meal were surly, unfriendly, uninterested and thelady who told me she was the manager was obviously having a joke with me. She was’nt a managers bootlace. I actually felt sorry for the lady who served us because she was obviously embarrassed about the mistakes. I say if you must go there …. pack your own meal and take your own cold drinks. It appears to be clean in the restaurant eating area.

I have been a fan of the Cobb & Co restaurants for many years & have eaten at several around the country so when in Napier visiting family (Saturday 16th May 2009) and wanting to celebrate my son’s 21st I suggested Cobb & Co for dinner. We booked earlier in the day & were seated immediately by lovely friendly staff, that’s where the ‘celebration’ ended.
1. My grand-daughters lemonade was just fizzy water.
2. When the 3 children’s mains were served we had to ask for their starters.
3. We had to ask for the side orders that didn’t arrive for the first 2 adult meals.
4. One of my grand-daughters (9) whispered to me that she didn’t like her chicken and when I looked it
was completely RAW.
5. My eldest son took one bite of his steak & spat it out, my daughter-in-law tried it & did the same. He
passed a piece to me, which i just sniffed & called a waitress over. She took one whiff & said “My God it’s rotten”.
She came back after taking it to kitchen to say that the chef (Dallas) had told her it was because of the blood
& the way it had been ordered – medium rare?
6. My daughter & I had ordered the pork and were almost scared to try it by this stage. We shouldn’t have bothered,
it was so dry it was like sawdust.
7. A diner from another table came & asked us if any of us had the ‘rump’? Hers had been rancid too.
8. The bar waiter, Shawn, then delivered our 2nd drinks, & promptly knocked a glass of beer with his elbow
dumping it all over the 2 year old in a high-chair & myself. He muttered an apology, finished serving the
drinks & left, leaving a very apologetic, & by now extremely embarrassed, waitress to mop up & retrieve the
glass from the floor. No mention was made of replacing the toddlers meal that was now swimming in beer.
9. I took the 2 year old to the bathroom & heard ‘Shawn’ laughing about the incident with two of the female staff
who quickly put their hands over their mouths & were trying to signal him to stop talking as he couldn’t see me
from where he was.
We left, without paying, leaving a contact name & number for the manager, who was away, to contact us. We havn’t heard from him yet but my daughter has notified the ‘Health Board’ about the chicken & steak.

After the first meal came out and they had managed to burn the bone on the spare ribs, we knew that this was not going to be a good meal. We could not believe they tried to table the plate with the sauce attempting to hide the failure. Not to mention the steak. I picked the most expensive cut, only to be disappointed with a chewy lump of meat! After eating at Cobb & Co in various places around the country, I would not recommend them to anyone.
My partner and i ate out at the Napier Cobb n co on the 7-11-08 this was the worst meal i have ever eaten out.
I ordered the surf n turf it came with a red hair included i saw it before i even picked up my knife an fork i was disgusted an sent it back I was served another meal it looked really good i tucked in with vigour only to find another red hair staring back at me it was very hard to hold back the heaving sensation in my stomach i declined the offer of another meal.
No one returned to discuss my meal with me or apologize until i had to pay for my meal at which time the manager apologized and charged me for everything else which i thought was in very poor taste considering the service i had received this is the memory i have of my 40th birthday dinner

Will not be eating here again. After huge disappointment from the Taupo Cobb & Co, we dined at Napier Cobb & Co hoping the food and service would be better. Unfortunately neither were any better. Food was bland and tasted like packet type foods. Other family members have also dined here and were very disappointed. Definitely not like it used to be at the masonic.

Very disappointing – can’t comment on food but after waiting 5 minutes to be seated, we were taken to our table and handed menus. 20 minutes after no service, my wife and I walked out. The restaurant wasn’t even busy. Will not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
