Comfortable cafe with a huge range of food on offer – from the cabinet or menu. Good for a wide range of groups, including business colleagues meeting up for lunch, through to families popping in during the weekend.

So for a change I tried the Columbus which turned out to be good decision, wintery cold outside, warm and welcoming inside.
Plonking myself down on a comfy chair, the long black, came with a beautiful crema on top and a rich velvet like flavour. Bran muffin and I was completely happy for the next 30 of my morning. Which is not always possible when driving along Dominion rd at a snails pace.
Thank heavens for good coffee!

The sun shines in through the front windows in the morning too.
The flavours of my chicken brie pesto melt with pumpkin were really nice – and good value for $8 – given that it came served with a really fresh green salad & tomato salsa. The French bread under the ‘melt’ was a little tough though, after being quickly heated through for me. But the flavours were more-ish, and kept me happy. Delicious coffee as you’d expect.
I like that there’s a small play area for kids that’s well away from the separate sunny section at the front, which works well to keep the noise of children and chatter down in the front area – making it easy to converse.
Great selection of cabinet food. Lots of flavour and lots of green health-conscious looking options included. Thumbs up from me. May 2010.
Update, June 2011: Started meeting weekly with a group of friends with preschoolers for coffee, etc. I’ve been so impressed with the service. Really efficient and patient with the children. Huge big square tables seating four adults and 6 kids, right next to the kids play area is excellent. My favourite meal now is the Columbus Club Sandwich for $8.50, I always choose the avocado, tomato & cheese. Big fat generous toasted sandwich. yum : ) I’m adding another star to my rating, to make it 5, because I love coming to this place.
