Easily the best Indian Restaurant in the Christchurch-Selwyn Region that I’ve been to. We’ve been here many many times over the last few years and it is always consistent and tasty. Excellent food, excellent service and great atmosphere if dining in. If you’re after a good Indian Restaurant, this is the place to go.

Got take-out from here for the first time over the weekend. I’d always heard great things, so I’m glad I finally got round to it. Shared the prawn starters, and also the Chicken Jalfreeze and the Palak Paneer. The Palak Paneer was outstanding! Definitely going to try the other Coriander’s restaurants in Christchurch also.

I continue to dine-in and order takeaway from Coriander’s on an regular basis and have NEVER been disappointed. The food is great and the service is friendly. An abundance of staff makes for efficient service. Even at their busiest there is no waiting or deterioration in the service. The décor is pleasant and the establishment is always clean and well presented. Good food at an affordable price in pleasant surroundings served by pleasant and eager staff. I look forward to many more meals at Coriander’s.

The food was good however, the service was not acceptable. Our table in the far back of the restaurant was ignored. Water was never refreshed. We had to consistently stop someone passing by the table for assistance. The main meals were delivered for four members of our party, with the fifth member’s meal, after two requests for its whereabouts, delivered after the other four completed their meal. The two neighboring tables, who arrived well after our group, got their meals before us and even had some of the the same foods our group had ordered. When the complaints of poor service were lodgedqa, the manager turned the remarks back on us saying they were too busy. Something could have been said up front instead of having stewing patrons in the back of the restaurant. Clearly the staff and management need to learn how to manage busy crowds and periods versus using it as an excuse for bad service. A simply apology would have gone a lot further than blaming us for being there contributing to our bad service. It is no wonder tipping is not done in New Zealand.

Good service here, fast and friendly. the food is nice but the meat can be a bit tough. I really wanted to give a 3.5 stars. I have had takeaways from here a couple of times and will continue to, the flavours are really nice!

We have often got a take away from Corianders, the food is always superb.

Visiting the restaurant, however, is not a very nice experience. As always the food is excellent, the atmosphere however is not. The restaurant is badly designed, atmosphere somewhat like sitting in the Riccarton Mall Food Court.

If you want to enjoy a good curry, get a take away from Corianders and go home to eat it!

I’ve been to coriander’s many times and find the staff always friendly and the food consistently good.

A group of five of us dined there recently and had the banquet, there was way too much food. The entree had a variety of there well known marinated meats and samosas. Then we had 6 curries to try with naan breads. A real taste experience. In fact when it came to ordering the curries we just ask then to give us a variety – call it a chefs choice. It makes the experience more interesting and you get to try curries you may not normally order.
There was no way you could eat it all, so we all had doggy bags to take home. Thanks Coriander’s.

I have been to Coriander’s a few times now and have always come out with a belly full of food…(curry’s are full of cream, too much really)

Anyway i am writting to say how badly run this establishment is:

If you order the banquet you get the following for 2 people $40 per person.
- a set of starters (which i must say is very good, way better than the mains)
-3 mains
-tea/coffee and ice cream
Total $80

But if you go with 4 people you get the banquet you get the same amount of food and have to pay $40 each.
Total $160

This does not make sense…you pay double the price for the same amount of food?????

If you buy the banquet with four people you should get 6 mains not 3…

Someone at Corianders cant do maths!!!!!

So a warning get the banquet if there is two of you…but if your party has more then two you will get royally ripped off….

I have been to Coriander’s now on numerous occasions – both dine-in and takeaway.

I always come out of there very full and happy. The service is fantastic and friendly. The food is amazing and never once have I had a bad dinner from this restaurant!

I would highly recommend and it is even better now that they have extended their dining area and have put in a double sided gas fire and you can see into the kitchen and see the chefs preparing your meal – this is particularly entertaining for children. My ten year old daughter loves going to Coriander’s and would happily go there once a week!
