The food was outstanding, and of excellent value. We went on a Monday night when it was really quiet, but received excellent service. The food and drinks were so good that we are bringing a group of our friends back there tonight.
As far as I’m concerned, the CornerStore is the one of best parts of living in Brooklyn! And their weekend brunches look awesome as well…

Pizza was no good – sliding off the base (apart from the red hair that is).
Previous to that – had been there about 6 times and had great service and great food. It was becoming a bit of a tradition.
Here’s a tip too. If the Rentokil pest controller is coming in – do it before the restaurant opens.
Might give it another go now that I see it is Under New Management. Hopefully the chefs have hats now.
The decor is very classy but relaxing at the same time. It makes it very hard to leave!
The service was great as the food was yummy. We were greeted straight away from a warm smiley waitress. After having a seat we were told about the specials and asked if we wanted a drink.
The first time we went we got the fish and schnitzel. The fish was so fresh and yummy and from how silent my partner was while eating the schnitzel I knew it must have been good. Finally confirming what I already knew he finally spoke and said how good it was.
The second time we did the ‘To Share’ plates (a great way to be social and interactive while dining out!)
We are looking forward to trying the rest of the scrumptious looking menu!

In terms of dinner, it was a different story. The service was rubbish, they kept forgetting things…and the food was awful. I had chicken on mash. The chicken tasted like it had been stuffed with raw garlic and the mash had an overpowering greasy taste of cheese. Usually I love cheese but this was disgusting.
My husband ordered lamb shanks expecting the meat would be falling off the bone and melting in the mouth. It was so tough he couldn’t even cut any meat off the bone. He told the waiter he couldn’t cut it and so the waiter asked if he would like a steak knife!!! Ha ha ha!! How ridiculous is that!
Service was crap. Food was rubbish. Not even worth the $35. Do not recommend.

We went because we wanted pizza and their pizza menu online looked great. First mistake – assuming the menu on their website was up to date. When we got there we discovered not only was it not but the prices had gone up and the quality of the pizza down – gone were the pricier ingredients and in its place a range of pizzas that cough be bought at any Dominos for 1/3 of the price.
I ordered the canneloni. And that’s what it was – a slab of the stuff on a plate. While the portion size was generous the flavour was bland and badly in need to seasoning. My husband ordered the beef burger and fries which, while nice, were way overpriced at $22. The side salad was a handful of mesclun with a chopped tomotoe, drowning in some, I would guess, $2.99 a bottle canola oil.
We almost didn’t get dessert as the service was so slow that we were running out of time before our movie. Wish now that we had cut our losses and run but alas we persevered. He ordered the sticky date pudding, me the plum and chocolate fondant. Both were obviously purchased elsewhere and simply taken out of the package and reheated with a dallop of cheap vanilla ice cream on the top.
His was passable but overpriced, mine was horrible. Stodgy and bland with the “plum” being a large chunk of gelatinous plum jam on the top. I ate about a quarter and my husband, who usually scrapes all plates at a restaurant, couldn’t manage more than a mouthful.
The service, as stated elsewhere, was slow and sporadic. We sat with our mains plates in front of us for almost 20 minutes before they were cleared – I was so tired of waiting I was almost ready to clear them myself!
We had the entertainment card which saved us $20, otherwise I would have refused to pay for my dessMoreert.
As a couple who rarely gets to eat out we certainly won’t be returning. If you’re ever in Brooklyn dine at the Penthouse – or even Burger Wisconsin where the burgers are much nicer for half the price.
Gave it a second chance but this time the service was really really poor – waitress said to take a seat and she would be right with us,she disappeared.
20 mins later we got fed up and left after having had no service whatsoever. I could maybe understand this if it was busy but with only two or three other patrons, No Excuse!
Would not go back here again.

Don’t recommend the Creme Brulee though, was a sloppy mess that looked like it had been in the fridge a couple of days!
Just stick to the drinks ;P
