The Countryman Restaurant serves fresh local cuisine accompanied by top wines from Wairarapa and other selected regions. Weekly seasonal lunch specials from $15 including Golden Bay whitebait fritters tossed in Glenfiddich, Thai lamb shanks with spicy coconut sauce and rice. Mains are under $40 including Seared venison loin, Prime Angus and prawns, and Paua steak. Delicious desserts include Passion fruit parfait, Apple crumble cake, Chocolate mousse or try the Chefs daily special.

I have been to this restaurant a number of times over the last year and have been very happy with both the food and the service.

So confident of the establishment, I brought a group of friends here in the last few weeks, one of whom is an ex-chef.

We have dined at The Countryman on a few occasions now and it is consistently good. Service is efficient and organised, the atmosphere is cosy and the food is just wonderful. I certainly would have no hesitation recommending it to anyone. I must say, the tiger prawns with taro vermicelli is one of my favourite dishes!

Came here as a second choice but glad we came.The seating arrangements have been altered since we last dined here. It is good value for a la carte dining. The linen is spotless, the distance between tables much improved.The Chef is a craftsman.Food was delicious,well presented with careful attention to the good sized portions.Service is welcoming, well organised & efficient.i would come again – and bring someone else to enjoy it with
