Formerly as Dallow’s Restaurant.

Nestled discretely in the rear of the beautifully dressed venue is an absolute surprise. Make your way through the hustle and bustle of one of Auckland’s busiest bars to discover one of its best attributes….”Cru at Sale Street” provides some of Auckland’s most innovative and contemporary NZ-French cuisine in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere, all amongst the liveliness of one of Auckland’s top bars.

Executive Chef Nick Honeyman strives to offer a new dining experience serving five and seven course degustation menus along with a la carte. The menus change regularly and showcase the best of New Zealand’s seasonal produce.

All Nick’s dishes are presented with creativity and flair and expertly matched with local and international wines. The mind-blowing culinary experience is enhanced further by the passion of the service staff and the chef team.

Whilst some degustation experiences can be lengthy, Cru’s offering is not aimed to be an all night affair, although in saying that if a leisurely dining expereince is what you are after we can certainly provide that. Allow 45 minutes to 1 hour for the five course degustation , 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours for the seven course.

We came here for the 7 course menu, what a treat, every dish was very different, my taste buds had a party!!! The dishes were served in a timely fashion and nice distances in between courses.

The staff were very good, ensuring drinks were topped up and every course was to our liking. The restaurant was a nice setting and very good for intimate dining.

At the end of our dinner the waiter came and introduced us to the chef and had a tour of the kitchen which was a nice touch.

Would definitely come back

My husband and I had the 7course degustation tonight and had a wonderful food journey. Each dish is composed of fresh ingredients and has distinct flavours you would fall in love with. Personally we had one of the best dinner experience since we moved to Auckland and felt all dishes are superior to what we had at the other top ranked Auckland restaurants. We defenitely will go back again and again looking forward to the Chef Nick’s new food innovation every visit. He really is a young super star! Simply Awesome!!!

Went to Cru recently for a birthday dinner in a group of 4. We had the degustation meal for 5 courses. The food was just fabulous and the waitresses were excellent at describing each plate. The restaurant was comfortable. Our issues were that the courses were served too rapidly, and the reason for this was revealed when the Maitre d’ came to our table when we had just been served our final course and asked us to move out into the{noisy} bar as he had another group waiting for our table. We had been at the table for 1hour and 10 minutes and we hadn’t even had our coffee. He successfully ruined our dining experience, as obviously part of the night out is to relax and share the evening with friends- not to get hurried out, because they had double booked the table. 4.5:5 for the food. Portions a little small. Ambiance completely ruined by the ‘hurry along’
