Booked lunch for my husbands 60th, 28 people. Unfortunately husband had to work, owners went out of their way to accommodate us and opened up on the Saturday night just for us. Service, meal, everything was perfect, no one in our party had a bad word to say about our time there. Hosts were warm, friendly and very obliging and made the night just that little bit more special. We will be rec commending Crusoe’s to all our friends, thank you guys for a wonderful evening

Wasn’t expecting much, was there four years ago, and wasn’t impressed. But my friends told me there are new owners and the place and food are beautiful. so I went there for lunch with friends, and realized it’s simply amazing.
I’m vegetarian, had so many vegetarian options, was difficult to choose! was too hungry to have a vegetarian pie ( saw different varieties in the cabinet. must try the tomato, basil & cheese one sounds delish!) got the vege burger, it’s nothing I’ve experienced before. they brought me a huge “tower burger” had excellent beer battered portobello mushrooms, fresh salad, onion rings the chef makes from real onions! and real awesome wedges.
Couldn’t finish it all, but had very helpful friends :-)
The coffee is the best I had in Nelson I was impressed!
Was too full for dessert!
Will be coming back very soon to try other vegetarian options.

I have celiac disease, been diagnosed 3 years ago and since than I’m in a mission to find proper places to eat.
I’ve never heard of Crusoe’s before, but a friend of mine had breakfast there and said there are many Gluten Free options in their menu, and the food is amazing.
I went there for lunch, and was shocked to find a menu that is mostly gluten free. Hostess was so lovely, she showed me every gluten free option on the list! I had the chongos, chicken strips coated with crunchy mixture, got a huge plate filled with chongos, fresh salad and fries. It was so yummy! got some house made aioli with it and oh my gosh! the best meal I had in years.
Definitely going back to eat there, it’s such a beautiful place with a sunny court and the service was great, what an amazing place. Next time i’m gonna try the Moroccan chicken & frittata! yum….

I have been to Crusoe’s many times over the past few months. The new owners are doing a fantastic job. The food is wonderful – you simply have to try the onion rings – they are part of the hamburger meal but they will serve them as an entree if you ask. They are divine! I have had the home smoked salmon salad several times and cannot fail it. It is so delicious.

The service is super friendly. The owners are delightful and always happy to oblige in any way to make your visit the best. They are innovate and are working very hard to improve and add to their menus, and create many different dine-out options. They have many vegetarian choices, plus gluten free etc so cater to all needs.

The food is fresh tasty and very more-some!

Crusoe’s Cafe what a beautiful place! came back after 5 years and horrible experience with previous owner, a too loud restaurateur and a shame of a food. Came yesterday with group of co-workers, had an amazing Pad-Thai, my friend got a hugh mouthwatering burger, and another friend got the Moroccan fish I must try next time. Team was happy, professional and friendly. Going there again this weekend with my family.

The same chef is still there so the food was as good as it’s always been except that the lovely vegetarian options have disappeared …. one of our party had the french toast with bacon – that arrived with a huge fatty rind still attached….

But the new management give a whole new meaning to the word arrogant. They seemed to believe they were well above their clients little realising the table had over 120 years combined experience in restaurant management and customer service.

We used to be regulars but won’t be returning….

Didnt know it had new owners. Very abrupt over powering hostess. Place was in chaos, no one knowing where to sit. Changing tables etc. Thick fat and rhind on soggy bacon. Plates dont look appetising. Bit over priced for what we had. Party of 3, all only ate part of the meals. Lost its friendly atmosphere. Wont be going back.

Went back, gave it a second chance because of its child friendly location. Definately need to do a course in customer relations and learn not to stack dishes at the tables.!

Visited here with 4 friends for lunch on a weekday early Feb. We sat outside. The meals arrived very quickly, the service was VG and all of us absolutely loved our meals. I had Eggs Benedict and it was to ‘die for’. I am taking Wellington friends there for breakfast next week. Well done Crusoe. (It would be good if you had a website though as I think you could attract more custom).

I have been here several times and the food is always good. (Great Eggs Benedict). The people here are really friendly. Mostly out door but some indoor tables. There is a fire burning in winter so nice and cosy. The playground is great if you are out with preschoolers.
