I wish I had read the other bad reviews on here before my family and I dined at CSB for Mothers Day this past weekend. We decided to go to CSB so we could use our voucher from the Entertainment Book. Luckily we found out before we ordered that no sorry they weren’t accepting vouchers today. When we asked why, the manager said that in the book it stipulates that we need to say when we make our booking that we are using a voucher. Well we had our book with us and looked it up and were able to point out that the book stated completely the opposite. The manager quickly changed tack and replied tartly “well I own this place and I can choose when vouchers are or aren’t used”. So they get the great advertising for being in the book and we only chose to go there so we could get the discount. They decided not to accept vouchers that day because it was Mother’s Day. Just makes the whole experience not very fun when you have to argue with the manager then get terrible food after waiting 45mins for it! We definitely felt like they were punishing us for complaining about this as other tables who arrived after us got their meals before us. The wedges were under cooked and had very little seasoning on them.

consistantly good. I’ve been there for after work snacks and drinks, and for meals. Booked in again tomorrow night. The food is great, and the atmosphere relaxed and unthreatening. (usually just go with the girls) has become my go-to place

We had one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had in Tauranga at CSB over Easter weekend. We had the choice of 3 restaurants within about 5kms of each other and chose CSB as we’d had a lovely lunch there about a year ago. The terrible service started when we had to hunt around to find someone to let us know where our table, booked for 10 people, was – no one even greeted us when we walked in, despite having walked past 2 waitresses. Our 2 bottles of wine were plonked onto the table when they arrived – no offer to pour glasses or even open the bottles! Our breads and dips order was “forgotten” and was only put through to the kitchen once our mains had started coming up on the servery. We got a surly response when we said we wanted to cancel the bread order, since our mains were already ready. Some mains were clearly ready before others though, as half of the orders turned up at the table cold. No one came to check if everything was ok and when we heard screaming and laughter coming from the kitchen, we looked over to see a food fight in full swing amongst the kitchen staff. We had to ask for menus again to check the dessert menu – the only restaurant I’ve ever been to where staff haven’t checked whether patrons are considering dessert. And when we told the waitress we had decided to go elsewhere for dessert, we were told that was “cool”. Overall a terrible dining experience – rude service and off-hand staff in general. Incredibly disappointing that we chose CSB over the other 2 restaurant options only to have such a disastrous dinner. And feedback sent via email to the management has gone unanswered – not really surprising though I suppose!

I have been to CSB on a regular basis and I love it there. It has an awesome atmosphere and always has good music. As I have a lot of business meetings there they don’t interrupt too much and always have got water there as soon as I sit down. They are always happy to see me and greet me with a smile. Definately a good place for me!! Love love love!!!

I dine here often because of the amazing food, friendly staff and the upbeat atmosphere. I definitely recommend this to all. Its also great with the kids and accommodates for my big family. Look forward to dining here in the near future

I have dined at this restaurant a few times and each time the service has been superb. The food was at our table quick, the staff were very helpful and friendly…the food was absolutely beautiful. Ive notice this restaurant is only getting busier and busier therefore they are definitely doing something right. No let downs at all.
I would definitely continue to dine here.

A Dissapointing experience. We have been going to the CSB for years, and have always enjoyed the freindly, warm atmosphere and fantastic service. This was not the case last Saturday. The service was poor with our empty galsses sitting on our table for 30mins despite waitresses moving back and forth past our table. We had one drink and lunch and left. It appeared that the manager was more intent on having staff clear tables than focus on people still in the restuarant!.It is no longer the lovely atmosphere that it was.

We have been to Cornerstone many times for breakfast and lunch and have thoroughly enjoyed the food and service, however after our food and service for Mothers Day brunch we won’t be back.
When our food came out and we had started eating another meal arrived, we figured out out they had given one of us the wrong meal so they were swapped and we carried on. Then a waitress arrived with a beer despite our drinks order being filled before our meals came. Minor issues really until I realised the white of my fried egg was still runny. We pointed it out to a waitress who took it back to the kitchen and 5 mins later my plate was back, what was left on it was restacked and fresh hollandaise sauce drizzled over. It looked like the egg had just been put back on the grill so I was shocked when I cut it to see the white was still really runny. I love runny yolks but runny egg white is not ok. By this time most of the table had finished their food so I chose not to eat anymore. When this was brought up while paying the bill and refusing to pay for the meal that was not eaten, the waitress got the owner (lady) who initially was not going to refund, and while in the end she did, she was clearly not happy about it and was quite rude. The burgers were great and the men enjoyed them, the vege bene (mistaken meal) was enjoyed however the lamb was apparently pretty average, overcooked and lacking flavour.
I have worked in hospitality myself and understand when you are busy mistakes happen, however it is how these mistakes are dealt with that will make or break a restaurant. Very dissapointing as this place used to be our favourite but as I said, none of us will be back.

Avoid at all costs. My partner and I used to frequent CSB a lot but recently the ownership has changed and the place has rapidly gone downhill. Rude staff and awful food. Tried it twice since the change and won’t be back

We often dine here for breakfast, exc value. However, we went to go for breakfast at 10.30 last Sunday morning, but the chairs were still up on the tables and it looked closed, the sign on the door says 9am to late? We wondered in and asked are you open to a lady behind the bar, she said sort of? What kind of response is that, she needs to work on her customer service!! We left and went elsewhere.
Apparently CSB has changed hands and the lady was new, but still the old staff were still there, they should have everything ready to go by 9am one would imgaine? We may try again later when she’s had time to “learn” the ropes.

Congratulations staff for what was a lovely afternoon yesterday Sunday 24th May. We had lunch and had planned to stay on to listen to the afternoon entertainment (Jazz Band) and enjoy the company of our daughter over drinks. My husband and I both work out of town on week days & always try to cathup with friends or family on Sunday afternoons, beginning with lunch and drinks. The food yesterday was just delicious as usual, although a bit too spicey for my husband and son-inlaw but I just told them to harden up NOTE they even sneeze over pepper LOL ‘they ate it all though’the atmosphere was fantastic, the staff were outstanding including their knowledge of product, they are friendly, courteous and unintrusive. Great wine selection and premium spirits, cocktail choices are delicious. One thing missing is STEINY PURE hubby setteled for Heiny from the bottle. Your selection of background music is so versatile to suit all listeners. We are CSB members and always make an effort to dine at least once or twice a month when we are back in Tauranga. We are local residents, we live just down the road and your restaurant/bar is the perfect place to frequent. We will certainly do this again on a Sunday arvo we certainly managed to have a great time being a Sunday and still get home early for work today. The Sunday entertainment is just great. Well done CSB

My wife and I dined at CSB a couple of nights ago. It is an upmarket bar/restaurant in the new Bethlehem Town Centre. The staff were very courteous and knowledgeable. The beer and wine selection was quite extensive. The menu itself has a good selection from casual dining to slightly more upmarket choices. We found the food to be extremely good and value for money, in fact it was so good we went back for brunch the next day, which we were not disappointed with. The place itself is very warm and inviting, with a slightly separated dining and bar area. They were quite busy both times we went (though there was no delays in receiving our food or drinks), which isn’t surprising as they seem to have gotten the mix of good service, good food and good atmosphere which seems to have eluded most dining places in Tauranga. All in all, well done CSB, we will be back!
